Job Purpose: Monitor and improve quality of underwriters to assess mortality and morbidity risk within company guidelines to assure equitable treatment of policyholders and producers and to meet the company’s objectives

1. Team Leadership :

   – Provide strong leadership and guidance to the underwriting team, including training,coaching and performance management

   – Foster a positive and collaborative team culture, encouraging teamwork and professional development

   – Set performance goals and objectives for the team, monitor progress, and provide regular feed back

2. Underwriting Management :

   – Oversee the underwriting process, ensuring adherence to established guidelines, policies, and procedures

   –  Evaluate and analyze underwriting risks, reviewing complex cases and providing guidance to the team

   –  Monitor underwriting performance metrics, such as profitability, loss ratios, and pricing adequacy, and take corrective actions as needed

   –  Develop and implement underwriting strategies to achieve business goals and objectives

   –  Stay updated with industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks, and adjust underwriting practices accordingly

3. Relationship Management :

   –  Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including sales, claims,a and risk management teams, to ensure effective communication and coordination

   –  Maintain strong relationships with externals partners, such as reinsurer

   –  Provide underwriting support and expertise to internal and external customers, addressing inquiries and resolving issues

4. Underwriting Guidelines and Policies :

   –  Develop and update underwriting guidelines, ensuring alignment with company objctives, risk appetite, and regulatory requirements

   –  Establish and maintain underwriting policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and consistency

   –  Conduct periodic audits and reviews to assess adherence to underwriting guidelines and policies

5.  Continuous Improvement :

   –  Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation in underwriting operations

   –  Implement best practices and innovative underwriting techniques to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and customer experience

   –  Participate in underwriting-related projects, system enhancements, and product development initiatives

Qualifications :

1. Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field

2. 3-5 years of experience in underwriting, with a focus on life  insurance industry

3. Proven experience in team management and leadership

4. Strong knowledge of underwriting principles, risk assessment, and insurance industry regulations

5. Excellent analytical and decision-making skills

6. Effective communication and interpersonal ability

7. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

8. Proficiency in underwriting system
