Switchgear and Motor Control Center Maintenance

Job Desc.

Service and maintenance of MV/LV Switchgear and Circuit Breaker such as Siemens and Schneider including intelligent Motor Control Center (MCC) type.

Annual maintenance for Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage (LV) Switchgear and also for corrective maintenance work based on end user’s request. This includes : to perform maintenance and Service activities, such as: MV/LV Circuit Breaker Analyzer Test (ACB) and Maintenance, Contact Resistant Test and Maintenance, Full Function Test Kit (FFTK), Partial Discharge Test, Power Quality Test and analyser, but not limited to cleaning part of switchgear, insulation resistance test, mechanical and electrical inspection and test.

Annual maintenance services as detailed below:

1. MV Switchgear System – Scheduled annualy once every year

Vacuum Circuit Breaker

The following recommendations for maintenance work shall be in conjunction with the manufacturer’s operation and maintenance instructions.

• Visual inspection of all parts not involving opening up of the poles of the breakers.

• Checking the fixed and moving contacts and circuit breaker carriage alignment.

• Carry out contact resistance test.

• Functional tests of control elements not involving primary or secondary injection.

• Checking of busbar system, protection current transformer and voltage transformer compartments including torque checking and tightening up of all connections.

• Necessary reading adjustments, cleaning, lubricating to maintain functional efficiency

• Cleaning and lubricating on mechanism, if necessary

• Checking of all cable termination

• Test on relay setting and relevant circuit breaker trips, if required calibration of the relays shall be performed

• Perform DC high voltage test for bus bar system

• Recommendation, where indicated, to change defective parts with genuine parts

Actual schedule for the above maintenance activities shall be coordinated with end users.

2. LV Switchgear System – Scheduled annually once every year

LV Main Switchboard, Emergency Boards & MCC

The following recommendations for maintenance work shall be in conjunction with the manufacturer’s operation and maintenance instructions.

• Physically inspect all busbars, cable and electrical connections for sign of over-heating or other abnormal conditions.

• Clean all busbars, cables, insulating partitions and their support with electrical cleaning solvent if necessary.

• Check and adjust tightness of all bolts & nuts on busbar, cable connections etc.

• Inspect & remove any foreign objects in the switchboard.

• Check all control wiring is properly tightened & control devices shown no sign of damage/overheating.

• Vacuum cleaning of switchboard to remove dust & dirt.

Actual schedule for the above maintenance activities shall be coordinated with End User

Air Circuit Breaker

The following recommendations for maintenance work shall be in conjunction with the manufacturer’s operation and maintenance instructions.

• Operation Check – Perform both electrically & mechanically trip/close function.

• Isolating contacts & Arc Chute – Inspect condition, clean & re-greasing, Inspect condition of clusters, check for wear & tears on fixed as well as moving contacts.

• Mechanism – Perform inspection, cleaning & re-lubricate. Check for wear & tear.

• Racking Screw – Cleaning & re-lubricate.

• Elevating – Cleaning and re-lubricate.

• Contact Resistance Check – Test on circuit breakers & bus bar contacts.

• Insulation Check – Record insulation resistance value.

• Test on relay setting and relevant circuit breaker trips, if required calibration of the relays shall be performed.

• Chassis – Check safety shutters for proper operation. Check racking-in and withdrawing of ACB. Check all interlocking mechanism.

• Report – Furnish official service report.

Withdrawal Starter/Feeder Modules

The following recommendations for maintenance work shall be in conjunction with the manufacturer’s operation and maintenance instructions.

• General Inspection: Inspect all components in the drawer units for defects.

• General cleaning: General cleaning of & touch-up paintwork where necessary.

• Cables termination: Perform inspection, cleaning & tightness checks for incoming to outgoing power cables. Check indicating devices and terminations on all auxiliaries control cables.

• Insulation check: Check insulation value of Feeders/Starters modules.

• Functional check: Check control functionality of Feeders/Starters modules.

• Lubrication: Perform inspection on all termination forks & cable connection units. Grease and lubricate all termination points of modules.

• Reports: Furnish official service report.

Minimum Requirements

Switchgear Service Engineer:

• Electrical Engineering Degree.

• Minimum five (5) years related experience in MV/LV Switchgear/MCC and Circuit Breaker maintenance, motor contactor and testing.

• Good command of the English language.

• Fully qualified in the operation of the test equipment that COMPANY have and able to work with minimum supervision.

• Familiar with safety processes and facilities in Oil & Gas Industry.

• Familiar with international standards.

• Familiar to produce work schedule and procedures.

• Familiar with troubleshooting and maintenance of Arc Type Switchgear especially Siemens Switchgear/MCC (NXAIR WORLD & SIVACON-S8) and Schneider. Switchgear/MCC (FS-BLOKSET) including networking control inside its (PLC system).

Switchgear Technician:

• Minimum Diploma-3 of electrical engineering.

• Minimum five (5) years related experience in MV/LV Switchgear/MCC and Circuit Breaker maintenance and testing.

• Familiar with brand that using in COMPANY as mentioned above.

• Good command of the English language

• Fully qualified in industrial oil & gas electrical works and shall be able to work with minimum supervision.

• Familiar with troubleshooting and maintenance Siemens Switchgear/MCC (NXAIR WORLD & SIVACON-S8) and Schneider Switchgear/MCC (FS-BLOKSET) including networking control inside its (PLC system)

C. Test Equipment and Tools requirements

Following tools and test equipment with valid calibration and certificate to perform the work:

1. Standard minimum insulated electrical tools

2. Certified and calibrated AVO meter, Low resistance meter, circuit breaker anaylzer, power quality analyzer, and other tools that related to the scope.

3. Consumable material to perform corrective action (insulated tape, bonding/earthing cable, inspection tag, contact cleaner and etc)
