Requirements:

1. Several years of experience as a Product Designer, with a focus on footwear or fashion-related products. Experience in designing sandals specifically would be highly desirable.
2. Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, or similar tools. Strong knowledge of design principles, including form, colour, materials, and ergonomics. Ability to create visually appealing and functional designs.
3. In-depth understanding of footwear construction, materials, and manufacturing processes. Familiarity with trends in the sandal industry and an ability to balance aesthetics with comfort and functionality.
4. Experience conducting user research, such as surveys or interviews, to understand user preferences and needs. Ability to translate user insights into design solutions that enhance the user experience.
5. A well-rounded portfolio showcasing your expertise in sandal design. The portfolio should demonstrate your ability to create innovative and marketable designs, incorporating both form and function.
6. Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers and marketing professionals. Ability to present design concepts and rationales to stakeholders.

Responsibilities 

1. Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to understand the brand’s vision, target audience, and market trends. Develop design concepts for new sandal products that align with the brand’s identity and customer preferences.
2. Create sketches and digital prototypes to visualize design ideas and iterate on concepts. Use appropriate software tools to develop detailed designs, considering factors such as silhouette, materials, closures, and embellishments.
3. Work closely with material suppliers and vendors to select suitable materials that meet both aesthetic and functional requirements. Choose colour palettes that align with current fashion trends and brand guidelines.
4. Create technical drawings and specifications for manufacturers, providing detailed information on dimensions, materials, construction methods, and assembly processes. Ensure designs can be efficiently translated into production.
5. Collaborate with production teams, including pattern makers, sample technicians, and manufacturers, to ensure designs are accurately translated into physical prototypes and final products. Provide guidance and clarification as needed.
6. Work closely with quality assurance teams to review samples and ensure that the final products meet design specifications, quality standards, and customer expectations. Address any design-related issues that may arise during the production process.
7. Stay updated on the latest sandal market trends, materials, and technologies. Conduct competitive analysis and gather insights to inform future design iterations and innovations.
8. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior designers, helping them develop their skills and grow professionally. Foster a collaborative and creative environment within the design team.
