General Information:

• Position                       : Research Officer (Economist)
• Work Location            : Denpasar, Bali

Kaleka, (Kaleka.id) is an Indonesian non-profit research institute established in 2014 with aims to sustainable and equitable production of commodities and use of natural resources by engaging governments, business, and social communities. As we scale up, we are seeking motivated and skilled professionals to join our team and support our mission.

Research Officer (Economist) will manage Oversee macroeconomic & public policy analysis, develop quantitative policy tools, assist farmer financial analyses, produce evidence-based economic insights, and liaise with policymakers & organizational units as needed.

Responsibilities

• Oversee economic & quantitative analysis of issues related to macroeconomics and public policy (e.g:  jurisdictional approach including incentive mechanism and value chain analysis);
• Contribute to program of work in quantitative policy analysis by developing analytical & policy tools, as well as applying them to analyze rural development policies & beyond; 
• Assist farmer business financial analysis including feasibility study, price analysis, and market research;
• Contribute to knowledge products that enhance the evidence-based knowledge of issues related to economic & rural development issues as well as poverty, such as analytical reports, peer-reviewed publications, policy briefs, working papers & country reports;
• Liaises with policy makers;
• Liaises with other relevant technical units in the organization; and 
• Performs other duties as required.

Requirement

• Master’s or equivalent degree in Economics, Public Policy, Agricultural Economics, Natural Resource Economics, or related field;
• Min. 2 years experiences working in agricultural economics issue;
• Demonstrated knowledge in policy, research & technical skills in the relevant area & ability to acquire them;
• Good interpersonal & communication skills, incl. experience in cross-cultural environment & international settings;
• Proven ability to develop & maintain sound working relationships w/ government representatives, public & private sector organizations, as well as other stakeholders;
• Proven problem-solving skills in a complex organizational environment & in work planning;
• Proven ability for accuracy under pressure & adherence to deadlines;
• Commitment to teamwork & collaborative work practices;
• Excellent command of English (written & spoken); and
• Familiar with econometrics & statistical tools.
