Your Role and Responsibilities
• Perform Daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly backup for data according to OLA backup, to ensure data availability is achieved.
- Proactively monitor the availability, capacity and performance of the storage and backup system (including storage, backup hardware).
- Respond to any incident and unplanned/unscheduled downtime of the storage and backup system within the defined service level.
• Escalate to hardware maintenance provider for any hardware failures.
• Ensure all backup and restore process follow standard and procedure.
• Provide regular report.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
• Server administration: Ability to manage and maintain server operating systems, including installation, configuration, and maintenance.
• Virtualization: Expertise in virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, and KVM, including the ability to design, implement, and manage virtual infrastructure.
• Networking: Expertise in network protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and advanced routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP.
• Storage: Expertise in storage technologies like Veeam, SAN, NAS, and RAID, including the ability to design, implement, and manage storage infrastructure.
- Security: Expertise in security technologies like firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and antivirus software, as well as the ability to design, implement, and manage security infrastructure.
- Backup and recovery: Expertise in backup and recovery technologies and procedures, including the ability to design and implement backup and recovery strategies.
• Scripting and automation: Expertise in scripting languages like PowerShell, Python, and Bash, including the ability to automate routine tasks and optimize workflows.
• Cloud technologies: Familiarity with cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, including the ability to design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure.
• High availability and disaster recovery: Expertise in designing and implementing high availability and disaster recovery solutions for server infrastructure.
• Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex server hardware and software issues, as well as the ability to research and identify solutions to complex problems.
Preferred Technical and Professional Experience
• Communication skills: Effective communication skills are essential for an IT server specialist mid-level. They need to be able to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders, collaborate with colleagues, and write technical documentation.
• Leadership skills: IT server specialists should possess strong leadership skills, including the ability to lead a team, mentor junior staff, and delegate tasks effectively.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills: IT server specialists should have strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
• Customer service: A good IT server specialist mid-level should have excellent customer service skills to handle customer complaints, provide technical support, and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Knowledge of emerging technologies: IT server specialists should keep themselves updated with the latest emerging technologies to stay ahead of the curve and suggest innovative solutions to business problems.
• Teamwork and collaboration: IT server specialists should have strong teamwork and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, share knowledge, and foster a positive work environment.
• Foundational knowledge of cloud infrastructure preferably certified.
