The operations manager is in charge of overseeing and optimizing the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing facility. This role ensures that all production processes are efficient, cost-effective, and aligned with the company’s strategic objectives.

Description

Operational Leadership:

• Oversee daily manufacturing operations to ensure production schedules are met and quality standards maintained.
• Lead, coach, and mentor department managers and supervisors, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
• Develop and implement strategies to optimize production processes, reduce waste, and improve efficiency.

Process Improvement:

• Identify opportunities for process improvements using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies, especially with data-related tools.
• Drive initiatives that enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
• Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess operational efficiency and implement corrective actions as necessary.

Supply Chain Management:

• Collaborate with the supply chain team to ensure timely procurement of raw materials and components, and manage inventory levels to avoid shortages or excesses.
• Coordinate with suppliers to improve lead times, reduce costs, and ensure the availability of high-quality materials.
• Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of the ERP system, ensuring it meets the needs of supply chain, finance, HR, and production departments.
• Work with IT and relevant departments to ensure the ERP system is fully integrated with other business systems and provides accurate, real-time data.

Labor Relations and Union Management:

• Serve as the primary liaison between the company and labor unions, fostering positive relationships and ensuring open communication.
• Lead negotiations during collective bargaining agreements (CBA), balancing company goals and employee welfare.
• Address and resolve union-related issues, grievances, and disputes in a timely and fair manner.
• Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations, staying updated on legal changes affecting union contracts and employee relations.

Human Resources Management:

• Oversee recruitment, training, and development programs to attract and retain top talent.
• Manage employee performance evaluations, promotions, and disciplinary actions in alignment with company policies.
• Develop and implement HR policies and procedures that comply with legal standards and support the company’s culture and strategic goals.
• Lead initiatives to improve employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention, including organizing employee welfare programs and events.

Profile

• Has managed the operations of a manufacturing company, especially those with multi-SKU (ie. electronics, or footwear)
• Has managed union/HRGA issues previously
• Has implemented ERP in the previous workplace
• Has implemented process improvement / continuous improvement especially with data points that are collected from the shopfloor
• Has fluent English
• Excellent in communicating technical terms in a layman term, and regularly liaises with the executive level
