Some of your duties will include:

  • Responsible for providing strategic direction to, and management of all of the Mine Department technical services functions, which includes the following departments: Mine and Exploration Geology, Geotechnical and Hydro geological Engineering and, Mine Planning and Mine Water Management Engineering. This position is responsible for the design and planning of all technical services to support mining operations and to ensure optimal feed delivery to concentrators.

  • Provides strategic direction and leadership to all Technical Service functions within the Mine.

  • Establishes and manages Mine Technical Service goals and objectives.

  • Establishes and maintains Mine Technical standards.

  • Promote projects and programs within the Mine that provide continuous improvement in the areas of safety, environment, production and efficiency.

  • Creates and implements policies and procedures that result in optimum effectiveness, productivity and operating cost.

  • Demonstrates interpersonal skills while managing and motivating an effective team.

  • Ensures the transfer of technology from expatriate to national employees and the promotion and support of national employee training and skill development.

  • Responsible for the development and management of manpower, operating and capital budgets for the Technical Service departments.

  • Manages the Technical Services Department staff in order to perform department functions including; mine design optimization, short and long term planning and scheduling, geological drill hole planning, geological drilling, geological modelling, ore control, ore control reconciliation, geotechnical analysis and management, hydro geological analysis and management and other related tasks.

  • Responsible for the development of production physical budgets for operating groups.

  • Responsible for the preparation of reports of stockpiles, reserves and royalty apportionment.

  • Responsible for the provision of plans to all operating groups.

  • Ensures the effective communication of plans to the operating groups.

  • Ensures the ongoing development and succession planning of personnel within the Department

What skills and experience do you need?

  • Bachelor Degree or Master Degree in Mine Engineering, Geology or related field.

  • Minimum 20 years of progressive mining experience; 7 years managerial role in mine technical services as Manager Mine Technical Services.

  • Deep technical knowledge of Mine Engineering, Geology, Geotechnical and Hydrogeological Engineering; Advanced mine design and planning systems; Competent in mine planning and geological software (e.g., Vulcan, Deswik, Surpac, Leapfrog, Datamine), MS Office, and modeling tools; Experience in the management and administration of budgets and financial controls in a multinational company.

  • Strong strategic leadership and team management skills; Experience developing high-performance teams and succession planning; Committed to safety, environmental stewardship, continuous improvement, and local talent development.

  • Excellent communication skills in English both verbal and written and computer literate. Skilled in stakeholder engagement and technical presentation.
