Job Description:

The librarian plays a vital role in working with teachers to ensure that the curriculum is supported with a variety of current, relevant resources that support the aims and objectives and the MYP/DP/National /PYP programmes the school offers.

Reports To:

English Principal

Indonesian Principal

Coordinates with:

• IB Coordinator
• Senior Subject Teachers
• Grade Level Guides
• Teachers

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Develop and submit to the E-Principal/Academic Coordinator an annual action plan to achieve the library’s listed objectives
• Develop involvement of the community of stakeholders through calendar events, newsletters and other initiatives
• Ensure that students have easy access to the library
• Promote and enforce appropriate student behaviours in the library
• Ensure that the curriculum is supported with a variety of current, relevant resources that support the subject-groups’ aims and objectives (In coordination with the SSTs, GLGs, IB and Indonesian Coordinators)
• Ensure that the library is equipped to support the school programs and formulates an annual plan to continue improving its resources. The plan must be submitted to the school administration by October of every school year
• Ensure that the library actively supports the key policies of the school:
• Language policy
• Differentiation policy
• Assessment policy
• Academic honesty policy
• Work with, and provide resources for, MYP/DP /PYP coordinators, SSTs, GLGs to actively support teachers in developing the following skills/attitudes:
• The learner profiles
• International mindedness
• ATL skills
• Provide support and assistance to students engaged in Extended Essay, Personal Project and PYP Exhibition
• Develop and update material for the instruction of using citations
• Promote reading skills and reading for pleasure as life-long skills through specific school-wide programs throughout the academic year
• Establish and develop relationships with other Mentari schools and relevant outside bodies/organizations/networks
• Submit an end of year report to the administration on achieved outcomes
