Legal Sr. Counsel

Report to            : Legal Manager

Employment      : Permanent (National Position for Indonesian Citizen only)

Provide necessary legal advice and execution for Jakarta and Field activities, prepare and review all Company contracts with third parties and employees. Manage legal affairs (including land acquisition) and industrial relations matters.

To work in a team within legal services to provide necessary legal advice and execution for Jakarta BU, field activities and corporate matters (communication and coordination with Company’s HQ legal function/legal secretary for corporate matters) within the organization of the company as required.

Senior Legal Counsel shall be prepared to be the lead counsel in specific project whenever required, to prepare and review, negotiate and conclude all Company contracts relevant to all Company’s assets in Indonesia.

Job Description:

• Prepare, recommend and develop contract/agreements, brief, minutes, legal opinions, legal advices and/or other legal documents/papers/legal interpretation, including letters requesting permits, licenses, approvals and decisions/dispensation/exceptions with unlimited value.

• Perform administrative management tasks of little complexity or low impact for the company before government bodies, registers, etc.

• Manage contractual or conflict processes of complexity or difficulty and/or economic importance and/or minimal significance and from time to time support Legal Manager in more complex contractual or conflict processes.

• Search and select, at the request of a Legal Manager and relevant jurisprudence, for the solution of different queries.

• Maintain constant surveillance of current legal interpretation, doctrines of laws, jurisprudence and SKKMIGAS procedures and Production Sharing Contract Provisions.

• Review/study/analyze contracts/legal disputes/issues and provide legal solutions.

• Review/study/analyze new regulations and procedures, and provides legal opinions on their effect to Company.

• Negotiate legal matters with external parties.

• Coordinate legal advice with Corporate Legal.

• Prepare and assist or lead in procedures for the resolution of disputes under supervision. 

• Provide advice and assistance through pre-litigation phases and settlement processes as well as manage external legal counsel services. Attend Court sessions and represent Company in other legal activities.

• Develop and implement an effective legal compliance program, proactively auditing processes, practices and documents and educate and training employees.

• Manage and assist all functions for and relating to exploration, development, commercial, tender project, planning, industrial relationship, M&A, corporate, etc.

Requirements:

• Bachelor degree in Law

• Years of experience a minimum of 10 years in Legal and Contract Administration, preferably with minimum 5 years of working in the oil & gas industry to provide necessary legal advice for Business Unit and Head Quarter activities including operation, procurement and commercial agreements.

• Experience communicating with Indonesian regulatory entities is required.

• PTK 007 qualification is preferable.

• E&P industry knowledge and experience required.
