We are currently seeking an experienced Laboratory Manager with a specialization in palm oil to join our dynamic team.

Job Summary: We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Laboratory Manager to oversee our laboratory operations. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the palm oil and related products testing , with a strong background in laboratory management and quality control. You will be responsible for developing a team of skilled professionals, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and delivering accurate and timely results to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Supervise and lead laboratory staff, promoting adherence to safety and quality standards in line with the laboratory’s accreditation, company policies and environmental and operational safety programs.
2. Perform and supervise testing needed for Palm and palm kernel oil and related products (including expellers).
3. Ensure all laboratory activities are compliant with applicable standards, procedures, and client requirements.
4. Develop and train staff to ensure proficiency in laboratory testing, equipment operation, and safety protocols.
5. Oversee all laboratory operations, including evaluations, workflow management, testing, analysis, and reporting for clients.
6. Prepare accurate reports for clients and ensure all documentation meets company and audit requirements.
7. Maintain departmental, company, and client records, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
8. Oversee the calibration of laboratory instruments, minor equipment repairs, and maintenance of laboratory records.
9. Set priorities and coordinate work activities to ensure project and task completion.
10. Define operating standards for the team and ensure adherence to essential procedures.
11. Prepare the laboratory for ISO 17025, GAFTA and FOSFA accreditation and recognition, manage the related audit process, and secure and maintain the required accreditation and recognitions.
     

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Science or Chemistry. Equivalent experience may substitute for the educational requirement.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the palm oil industry or related field, with significant laboratory management experience.
• Professional knowledge in FOSFA, MPOB, etc. testing parameters.
• Knowledge of GAFTA testing requirements for Agricultural products is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of departmental quality systems and safety programs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and advanced mathematical skills, including statistical analysis.
• Excellent skills in reading, interpreting, and reporting laboratory data, including the ability to produce comprehensive reports, graphs, and charts.
• Ability to develop protocols tailored to specific client needs within laboratory capabilities.
• Proven leadership and training skills with the ability to mentor and develop staff.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with both internal teams and external clients. Proficient spoken and written English .
• Required to maintain applicable accreditations, certifications and licenses relevant to the role.
