IDH has an excellent opportunity for you in the Insights and Innovations team, as we are looking for a proactive and pragmatic Innovation Manager Operations & Gender.
The Insights & Innovations (I&I) Business Unit (BU) is responsible for giving direction to internal and external stakeholders by providing strategic advise and thought leadership on better jobs, better income, better environment, gender, technology and smallholder inclusive business models. The BU is also building tools and solutions and acts as a linking pin between the other BUs by coordination and alignment.
The role consists of two main responsibilities. First, you will be responsible for improving and maintaining the I&I BU operations. IDH is a fast-growing organization and going through internal operational improvements, requiring you to be well connected to colleagues from different teams, from finance to partnerships and operations. You will be asked to provide ad-hoc support to colleagues to contribute to efficient and smooth team operations. Second, you will be part of the gender team within I&I, contributing to mainstreaming gender and moving the IDH gender agenda forward. IDH has seen throughout the years that gender equality is a catalyser for economic growth. Gender equality and women’s empowerment are essential to building healthy and resilient businesses. IDH believes that when the private sector adopts gender inclusive strategies, their impact increases and their business models will be more commercially viable.
For this role it’s important that you get energy from handling multiple tasks at the same time, while aiming to get the best result.
Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
I&I BU Operations
- Budget: Coordinate the budget of the Insights & Innovations (I&I) team
- Knowledge management: Improve and update the internal IDH platforms and systems for the I&I team
- Reporting: Coordinate input on and prepare quarterly updates and corporate reporting
- Contracting: Support new colleagues with the contracting process
- Team events: Organizing (but not facilitating) team meetings
- Operational support: Support with ad-hoc request from colleagues
- Innovation: Develop tools and materials to support project teams and gender champions
- Learning: Conduct research on gender interventions to create insights for cross sector learning
- Internal processes: Support with the integration of gender components into the IDH processes and procedures
- Advise: Providing technical gender advise to program teams globally
- Thought leadership: Present at internal and external meetings and platforms to share our insights to move the gender agenda forward
- Gender team support: Assist with preparing internal and external meetings and other tasks to support the team including preparing PPT presentations and alike
Who you are
You are hands-on and you have excellent organizational and planning skills to structure and guide operational work processes and flows. You have a good understanding of gender agendas of private sector companies.
You are great at prioritizing and coordinating work to meet agreed on goals. You are a people person and are able to gain commitment from and coordinate smoothly with IDH colleagues and our partners. You are able to work independently and communicate clearly. You are happy to roll up your sleeves and flex from budget to reporting to content driven work.
What you bring
- A relevant Master’s degree
- 5-7 years of working experience in a private sector company or NGO in the areas of sustainability and gender. Consultancy experience is a pre
- Good understanding of (agricultural) supply chain sustainability is a pre
- Good communicator and ability explain complex issues in a fact-based and simple way
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English. Additional languages are an advantage but not required

What we offer
IDH offers a dynamic international environment and an enthusiastic and passionate team. As an IDH team member you can contribute to positive global change. The position is for 40 hours per week, initially for one year, with the intention to extend. We offer a competitive salary between the range of EUR 4258, – and EUR 5110, – (if based in NL) and solid fringe benefits, including a good pension scheme.
The position based in Utrecht, the Netherlands, London, the UK or in Nairobi, Kenya. Candidates should be nationals of either one of these countries or should have permission to work either of these locations.
