CHC is looking for an energetic and experienced professional to manage all activities related to its personnel and operations. The role of HR Manager is important to business success. Promoting corporate values and shaping a positive culture is a vital aspect of this role. People are our most important asset and you will play a key role in ensuring we have a positive and productive workplace where everyone works to realize their personal and the company’s goals.

This role is based in the head office, located in Sanur, Bali and reports to the Head of Business Integrity. You will lead a small, geographically diverse HR team. Occasional travel to the company’s regional offices to understand operations and create meaningful linkages with our teams will be required.

PT. Collins Higgins Commodities (CHC) applies a science-based approach to its commercial and commodity sourcing activities. CHC was registered as a PMA in 2014 and has grown over the years to a team of over 40.

Our activities range from research to social impact, agriculture commodities sourcing and export. We source spices primarily from Sumatra. We are pioneers of sustainable and traceable sourcing. We engage with the communities we rely on and work in by delivering financial and business skills through our Women’s Empowerment projects.

Position Summary

The HR Manager’s responsibilities cover HR, Compliance and General Affairs. On the HR side, they include developing recruitment strategies and managing the recruitment process, employee relations, performance management, training & development and talent management, implementing systems for managing staff benefits and behavior and onboarding new employees. The Compliance covers all aspect of legal permits and licenses of all operations, team members and third parties involved in the activities. On the General Affairs side, they include overseeing and managing all aspects of the company’s general affairs, including facilities management, office administration, and vendor management.

A key function of this role is to foster healthy workplace practices across the company. This position requires a minimum of 15 years experience in a similar role.

Roles and Responsibilities

HUMAN RESOURCES

  • Manage the staffing process, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring and onboarding
  • Ensure job descriptions are up to date and compliant with all local, regional and national regulations
  • Develop training materials and performance management programs to help ensure employees understand their job responsibilities
  • Investigate employee issues and conflicts and bring them to resolution
  • Respond to employee queries and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner
  • Maintain HR systems and processes
  • Use performance management tools to provide guidance and feedback to team
  • Ensure all company HR policies are regularly reviewed, updated and applied consistently
  • Maintain company organization charts, employee directory and records, ensuring status updates are recorded
  • Partner with the leadership team to ensure strategic HR goals are aligned with business initiatives
  • Ensure the organization’s compliance with local, regional and national regulations
  • Lead the performance and salary review process, providing leadership and guidance to other managers
  • Provide support and guidance to HR staff in daily functions and completion of tasks
  • Provide support and guidance to managers to handle HR issues with their direct reports
  • Manage the compensation strategy for all employees based on market research and pay surveys; keep the strategy up to date
  • Analyze trends in compensation and benefits
  • Design and implement employee retention strategies

COMPLIANCE

  • Obtain and maintain all legal and permit with regards to company operations
  • Obtain and maintain all expat matters such as permits and visas
  • Manage the commodities export processing

GENERAL AFFAIRS

  • Maintain office facilities and assets: liaise with building management, ensure the working environment is proper and productive, routine office facility checking, office renovation.
  • Manage the company purchasing/procurement: Ensure processes are in place to manage routine and non-routine office purchases and office and specialist field equipment. Monitor team’s activities and compliance to SOPs and guidelines. Maintain good relationships and negotiate with vendors.
  • GA Coordination: Supervise and coordinate HR team members to develop and review processes, SOPs and guidelines. Mentor team members in good practices.
  • Oversee the processes and arrangement of business trips. 

Reporting

  • This position reports to the Head of Business Integrity
  • The HR Manager is a member of the company’s senior management group

Direct Reports

  • This position currently has a team of 3 direct reports

Deliverables

  • Confidentiality in dealing with HR matters
  • Compliance to company policies
  • All company SOPs, policies and guidelines reviewed annually
  • All company permit and licenses obtained & updated
  • >95% of tasks completed within the designated time with minimum feedback
  • >95% compliance of bookings to company travel and expense related policies
  • >95% of goods and services delivered within the expected time & request
  • Zero foreseeable errors in travel arrangements

Skills and Attributes

Required

  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant work experience 
  • Bachelor degree in HR or related field (e.g. IR, Business, Psychology) 
  • Excellent understanding of the full recruitment process, including labor legislation and laws in Indonesia
  • Ability to develop and enforce the application of policies, procedures and guidelines
  • An exceptional level of organization, problem solving and team management skills
  • Ability to work in a multicultural and interdisciplinary working environment
  • Good knowledge of market research & vendor sourcing practices
  • Outstanding English verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity  
  • A strong sense of Integrity and ethics
  • Well developed people skills

Desirable

  • Proficient in Google Suite of applications
  • Background in a manufacturing or agriculture company
  • Good knowledge of export paperwork processing
