The HSE Manager will report to the Dy. General Manager/KTT, working on site in Berau East Kalimantan 

The role of the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Manager exists to give direction and guidance to the Running project to ensure that every SMJ employee and contractor return from work to their home in the same way in which they came to work, and to protect the natural environment and company assets. 

 Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

1. Ensure occupational health and safety and environmental plans and procedures for project activities are developed, implemented and complied with, in line with laid down management standards; 

2.  Identify and manage all of the HSE risks associated with the project, including business and operational risks; 

3. Ensure all HSE standards, plans, procedures   are conveyed to all employee and contractors working on the project. 

4. Lead a culture of reporting hazards, incidents and near miss events and ensure employee are appropriately investigated and actioned to prevent recurrence; 

5. Take the lead and participate in visible HSE initiatives (workplace inspections, HSE meeting attendance, internal audits, hazard and incident reporting and behavioral observations) to drive site wide HSE performance; 

6. Hold individuals at all levels accountable for their HSE actions and take the relevant disciplinary action when necessary e.g. Accident control & min Property damage.

7.  Oversee environmental management programs including monitoring, land rehabilitation, water management, waste management and other key functions; 

7.  Manage a HSE team at site HSE requirements during operations; 

8. Ensure all site personnel are clear about their HSE roles and responsibilities and how their performance will be assessed and managed through the development of position descriptions and KPI’s; 

9.  Communicate effectively with all personnel to ensure that there is an understanding of and support for the HSE goals and aspirations of  PT. Sumber Mitra Jaya coal Mine operation in Berau; 

10.  Support on-the-job and external HSE training programs for PT. Sumber  Mitra Jaya relevant employees 

11. Develop training and development matrices with plans for all HSE personnel; 

12.  Provide succession planning within the department’s overall people development program.

Requirements:  

1.  Minimum of 10 years in mine site  Health Safety &  environmental management roles
2.  Min  5 years in HSE Manager or Superintendent role implementing UU/PP. ISO 45001 & 14001
3.  Experience with mine closure and rehabilitation programs
4. Computer literate in the basic Microsoft Office programs, strong leadership & communication skills 
5.  Developing Good Mining  Practices  and implementing HSE management system initiatives, 
6.  Exposure to managing contractors HSE performance on operating sites
7. Age Group 35-40 years Male or Female, Male Preferred with sound health
