About Our School and Faculty

The successful candidate will be teaching in a large, inclusive school with a diverse community representing over 40 nationalities. ISB is an established IB school with high academic expectations and a caring environment. Many of the students move on to some of the best universities in the world including those in the Russell and Ivy league.

The PE and Sports Faculty delivers core PE and Games to all year groups in Primary and Secondary school. There are clear long term schemes of work in place linked to an assessment framework that ensures progression as well as excellent participation in a range of sports and activities. The faculty is composed of 7 to 10 teachers. The teachers may specialize with certain sports or ages but generally are expected to teach a range of Year groups and sports.

In addition to core PE and Games, the faculty delivers IGCSE PE and IB Sports, Exercise and Health Science (SEHS). The ideal candidate would have experience of teaching these qualifications. The Head of Faculty will also work with external providers and coaches and leads of sporting extra-curricular activities.

The PE and Sports department run a range of internal sporting events from football to basketball to sports days to swimming galas and much more. ISB is also very active in participating in regional inter-school competitions both here in Borneo and in Asia through FOBISIA.

The school has very good sporting facilities, resources and space including a very large sports hall for various games and activities, a large grass pitches for a range of games, gym and a swimming pool.

ISB is an excellent school for the Head of PE and Sports to show initiative and develop professionally. The Head of PE and Sports will have the freedom to develop their own vision for the faculty in line with the school’s inclusive ethos. The Head of PE and Sports also have the ability to build on strong frameworks to ensure that the curriculum provides a range of opportunities for differentiation and progression and that teaching and learning strategies challenge and engage our students.
