About the role

The Finance and Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing all accounting functions, managing budgets, preparing financial statements, and providing financial insights to support strategic decisions. This is a hybrid role that requires both hands-on management of day-to-day accounting operations and an analytical approach to financial planning. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment.

Duties:

Set Up Finance, Tax, and Accounting Policy and Procedure for the Company

Accounting Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger entries.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP/IFRS standards.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions and conduct monthly reconciliations.
  • Coordinate and manage the preparation for annual audits and tax filings, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain internal financial controls and processes to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy.
  • Oversee invoice processing, expense management, and vendor payment cycles.

Finance Responsibilities

  • Conduct financial forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis to monitor company performance.
  • Provide insights and analysis on cash flow, cost management, and profitability to guide executive decision-making.
  • Collaborate with leadership to create and monitor key financial metrics, including KPIs, to drive business performance.
  • Support fundraising efforts by preparing financial models, investor presentations, and other key financial documents.
  • Conduct risk analysis and recommend strategies to optimize company finances and support sustainable growth.
  • Oversee and manage the company’s short-term and long-term cash requirements and investment planning.

Tax Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with local, national, and international tax regulations and laws.
  • Prepare and file all required tax returns in a timely manner, minimizing tax liabilities.
  • Develop tax strategies to optimize the company’s tax position and manage tax risk.
  • Stay updated on changes in tax legislation that may affect the company and provide proactive advice.

Outcomes:

  1. Transition current bookkeeping responsibilities from outsourced bookkeeper to internal during Q1.
  2. Work with our part-time Head of Finance to identify current deficiencies in our accounting and FS processes and resolve them during Q1.
  3. Determine if external accounting support is necessary for tax calculations and payroll, or ideally move it in-house during Q1.
  4. Close the books and deliver the financial statements of the previous month within the first two weeks of the next month, on a regular basis
  5. Develop, document, and implement comprehensive finance, tax, and accounting policies and procedures within the first 90 days.
  6. Ensure timely and accurate filing of all tax returns, with no late submissions or penalties
  7. Deliver accurate financial statements (monthly, quarterly, and annually) in a timely manner, meeting established deadlines (e.g., within 5 business days of month-end close)
  8. Prepare comprehensive financial models, budgets, and report to support due diligence for upcoming fundraising activities, contributing to successful capital raises

KPIs:

  1. Dashboard Development: Develop and implement a financial KPI dashboard for executive review within the first 90 days
  2. Automation and Software Utilization: Increase the use of automated processes for financial tasks, reducing manual entry by 20% within the first year
  3. Budget Accuracy: Maintain a variance of no more than 5% between actual performance and budget forecasts
  4. Forecasting Accuracy: Ensure financial forecasts are accurate, with less than 5% variance from actuals for key metrics (e.g., revenue, expenses, cash flow)
  5. Risk Mitigation: Identify and mitigate at least 3 key financial risks annually, providing strategies and action plans to the executive team.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field; CPA or CFA preferred.
  2. Minimum 10 years experience in finance,  accounting, and tax, with 5 years in managerial position. Ideally within a startup or fast-growing company.
  3. Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS), financial analysis, tax reporting and management, budgeting, and forecasting.
  4. Proficiency with financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, SAP) and Excel for financial modeling.
  5. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  6. Strong organizational and time management skills, with an ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  7. High level of integrity and ethical standards, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  8. Have experience working with Europe or America Company.
  9. Willing to be based in Bali office Indonesia full time.
  10. Fluency in Bahasa Indonesia and English is required.
