Agriculture in Indonesia is one of the biggest untapped opportunities in Asia as it is a $100 Billion economy but one of the least digitized sectors even though the country has the fourth-highest mobile user base in the world. We aim to be the first full-stack upstream solution for farmers and Agri SMEs with a focus on inputs, advisories, and agri-finance.

Who we are:

Semaai co-founders are ex Entrepreneurs, Goldman Sachs, World Bank, and Schlumberger, with 30 years of rich experience in the technology, agri-business, and development sector in Indonesia and India. Position Summary: We are looking for a highly motivated Field Researcher, who is inspired by the mission and willing to work in an Agri-tech startup. You will be responsible for conducting user research on our new digital product and providing us meaningful insights for product development.

You might fit be a right fit:

• Has at least 1 year relevant experience in Research. Startup Experience is a plus!
• Graduated from a reputable university, majoring in Sociology, Anthropology, Information Systems, Information technology, Computer Science or Psychology will be an advantage. 
• Passion for contributing to building digital solutions that impact the underserved communities.
• Strong at critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills. 
• Deeply understand the people’s problems through several practices like probing and triggering think out loud while making sure there is less bias as possible, such as missing context, leading questions and other prohibited approaches in user research. 
• Have a decent understanding of design thinking and research methodology;
• Ability to analyze and synthesize data from qualitative sources; experience with quantitative research would be an advantage. 
• Ability to identify research opportunities, research planning, execution, synthesize, until insights and recommendation delivery with the right methods based on research questions that we want to know.

Your day-to-day:

• Strategize with the UI/UX and Product team on product goals and areas where user research can provide meaningful insights.
• Conduct thoughtful research to help in growing the base of users and increase digital adoption.
• Work with the team(POD) to prepare research material (interviews questionnaires, user surveys, card sorting, usability tests etc).
• Conduct qualitative research on digital products that will help with the validation of the product.
• Conduct field research in SOLO (talk to farmers and agri MSMEs) along with the field research team.
• Analyze the data from the qualitative research to bring comprehensive research recommendations for the product and design team.
