About the Role:

The Materials Project Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and executing projects related to the development and launch of new materials—starting with our revolutionary eyewear materials. Reporting to our CEO you will work closely with R&D, engineering, marketing, and cross-functional teams to oversee the end-to-end process of material innovation, from conceptualization to market launch.

This is a pivotal role within Pangea, requiring strong project management skills, expertise in materials science or industrial engineering, and a passion for sustainable development. Your work will contribute to creating a regenerative, closed-loop supply chain that significantly reduces plastic waste and carbon emissions in the fashion industry, while cleaning our planet.

Duties:

1. Project Planning & Management:
   Develop and execute detailed project plans for new material launches, including timelines/gantt charts, resource allocation, budget controls, and milestone tracking.
2. Cross-functional Collaboration:
   Work with R&D, marketing, production, impact, and engineering teams to develop innovative materials that align with Pangea’s sustainability goals and market needs, especially focusing on eyewear.
3. Material Development Oversight:
   Oversee the development of sustainable materials, ensuring they meet technical, aesthetic, and environmental standards for performance and durability.
4. Supplier and Manufacturer Sourcing and Coordination:
   Source suppliers to ensure the procurement of necessary materials’ ingredients and equipment, in connection with our Supply Chain Manager. Coordinate the product development process with eyewear manufacturers until the materials are ready.
5. Budget & Resource Management:
   Manage budgets and resources effectively to meet project goals while staying within financial limits. Track spending and forecast future resource needs.
6. Quality Assurance:
   Work closely with the quality assurance team to implement rigorous testing protocols and quality standards for new materials, ensuring compliance with industry benchmarks.
7. Sustainability & Circular Economy Integration:
   Integrate circular economy principles, such as closed-loop supply chains and lifecycle analysis, into all projects to support Pangea’s vision of regenerative material innovation.
8. Risk Management:
   Identify and manage project risks, including supply chain disruptions, technical challenges, and timeline delays. Develop contingency plans to address potential roadblocks.
9. Launch Hand-over:
   Hand over the new materials to marketing, sales, production, and distribution teams to ensure a smooth rollout that meets the goals.

Outcomes:

1. Successful development and launch of new eyewear materials in Q1 2025.
2. Establish a strong supply chain of sustainable ingredients for our materials.
3. Achieve industry-leading performance metrics for material quality and sustainability.
4. Smooth coordination across R&D, production, and supply chain teams.

KPIs:

1. SPI (Schedule performance index) for timeline adherence.
2. CPI (Cost performance index) for budget adherence.
3. Project completion rate.
4. Material performance metrics (strength, durability, sustainability).
5. Customer satisfaction with new material quality and impact.
    

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in project management, ideally within materials development in the eyewear or fashion industry, or the plastics industry.
• Proven ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects from inception to completion. PM training and certification strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of sustainable material science, including polymers and recycled materials.
• Experience working with supply chains, manufacturers, and external partners in Asia.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills with a track record of coordinating diverse teams.
• Passion for sustainability and the circular economy.

Additional Information:

• Nationality: Indonesia
• This role will be based in our office in Bali in Canggu, and at our future HQ in Dalung
• Advanced English speaking and writing is a must
• Advanced use of project management software like Clickup

Working hours:

Monday to Fridays: 10:00am to 6:00pm, flexible

3 weeks of paid vacation time per year (15 days)

3 Working days in Office, 2 Working Days from Home
