Job Description

Position Summary / Role Responsibility

The Field Support Technician will be part of Rockwell Automation’s Lifecycle Services Business, focused on providing customer support and technical services on behalf of Rockwell Automation and its distributors.  Duties of the technician will be focused on on-site technical services that may include commissioning, start-up, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of Automation Systems (PLC/Motion/Drives) in a wide variety of applications. Provides on-site field support to engineering installation and may possibility act as embedded resource for customer or distributor.

Typical activities may include:

• Assist with Rockwell Automation products (PLC/Servo/VFDs) start-up, preventive maintenance, and warranty support

• Provide assistance with Rockwell Automation product support, repairs and or installs

• Perform Installed Base Evaluation collection activities

• Perform onsite Rockwell Automation Parts Management Agreement Audits

• Perform I/O Checkout

• Perform Panel Inspections

• Perform MCC Retrofits per instruction

• Perform Grounding verifications per instruction

• Perform Continuity testing

• Support other Rockwell Automation business units as needed

Skills & Knowledge

• Knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLCs, Powerflex VFDs & Servo Drives

• Basic knowledge on Industries, manufacturing processes, applications

• Understanding control systems, panel components, electrical wiring diagram, schematic diagram & AC/DC power circuits, pushbuttons, circuit breakers, power supplies, overloads, contactors, relays etc.

• Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, supporting customer needs with a high level of professionalism and excellence.

• Follows all company safety procedures and guidelines to protect themselves and others.

• Embraces Rockwell Automation’s culture of inclusion/diversity/engagement.

• Strong customer relationship development and management skills 

• Team player with the ability to integrate with other service team members.

Preferred Qualifications 

• Diploma in Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation with 0-2 years of experience

• Minimum of 65% marks with year of passing on 2021 / 2***

• Willing to Travel as required and accessible if needed during off hours, weekends, and holidays (Minimum of 30% travel required)

• Experience in control system applications with exposure to project lifecycle from initial design concepts through installation and subsequent client support may be an added advantage
