Perform design, schematic capture and layout of electronic circuits for medical device use.

  • Design and prototype digital systems including microprocessors, FPGAs and other supporting digital circuits.
  • Design of analog circuits, including audio, instrumentation and optical circuits.
  • Design of high speed signal lines involving transmission line techniques.
  • Mathematical analysis of circuit designs.
  • Schematic capture input, including component selection.
  • Layout implementation, including routing PCBs.
  • Generating PCBA build files, including boms, gerbers, assemble, fab drawing, etc.
  • Bench level testing and verification.
  • Working with contract manufacturers to deliver PCBA design packages that will meet manufacturability and yield requirements as well as solving component end-of-life and procurement issues.
  • Documenting design requirement, design analysis and design description.
  • Design, implement, test, and release analog/digital PCB designs for new medical products, and new features on existing medical products.
  • Design, implement, test, and release embedded firmware for new medical products and new features on existing medical products.
  • Debug, integrate, and test hardware and embedded firmware designs at the system level.
  • Documenting and verifying hardware and embedded firmware designs in accordance with applicable medical device development standards (e.g. requirements/design specifications, risk analysis, verification & validation protocols/reports).
  • Support and interact with other departments, including R&D, technical support, field service, and manufacturing.
  • Support medical device regulatory compliance efforts.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. and 5+ years of experience or M.S. and 3+ years of experience Electrical Engineering (preferred) or related study.
  • 3+ years experience in designing digital, analog and mixed signal circuits.
    • Schematic capture experience.
    • PCB implementation, including performing and/or overseeing layout and generating PCBA build files.
  • 3+ years of work experiences in medical systems hardware and firmware development.
  • Board level debug and diagnosis using oscilloscopes, power supplies, DMMs and other bench test equipment.
  • Experience in board level design verification.
  • Experience in digital and analog circuit modelling.
  • Design for manufacturing/manufacturability experience.
  • Experience in design documentation, including design requirements, design analysis and design descriptions.
  • Schematic Capture and PCB layout using Orcad and/or Altium.
  • Proficient in C, C++, and Verilog programming languages.
  • Development of embedded firmware for ARM microprocessor or equivalent.
  • Development of FPGA designs using Quartus Prime or equivalent.
  • Medical design documentation including requirement/design .specifications, risk analysis, verification protocols/reports.
  • Transferring new designs to production, including development of test fixtures/procedures.
  • Medical device regulatory compliance testing activities.
  • Medical product development in a regulated ISO 13485 environment.
