Program Background

Prospera is a partnership facility between the Government of Australia (through Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade) and the Government of Indonesia. It aims to foster strong, sustainable, and inclusive economic growth in Indonesia. Commencing from 1 March 2018, Prospera is a planned five-year investment which has been extended for 3 years, until February 2026.

Prospera aims to achieve three outcomes:

• Expanding markets, creating jobs – including building a robust private sector through a sound enabling environment; Growing jobs, capital and technology through trade and investment
• Safeguarding economic and financial stability – including ensuring a strong foundation for growth through balanced macro-financial policy; strengthening financial system integrity through supervision and literacy
• Improving public finances and government performance – including more revenue and better spending through improved policy and systems; improved government performance through data and public integrity bodies

The Role

We are seeking an Economist who will bring strong economic, analytic and policy assessment experience to Prospera’s support to the Government of Indonesia and work with stakeholders across Prospera. The policy analysis will reflect expertise and knowledge of economic policymaking, particularly in the Indonesian context. It is envisaged that the Economist will focus on a broad policy analytical agenda with strength in macroeconomics, macroeconomic policy, and economic development. The Economist is expected to provide expert input, produce analytical works, and work closely with Prospera’s technical counterparts. A strong knowledge of macroeconomic issues is preferable for this position. Strong quantitative skill is essential.

About You

The candidate will possess strong qualifications and experience as follows:

• Master’s degree in Economics, Public Policy, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience in economics and quantitative analysis.
• Proven expertise in economics evident in work experience. Experience in analysing the Indonesian economy and/or other economies.
• Knowledge and experience working on the Indonesian economy and with Indonesian policymakers. Understanding Indonesia’s macroeconomic policy issues is a plus.
• Computing proficiency in one or more statistical and data management software such as R, Stata, and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with fluency in Bahasa Indonesia and English (both written and oral), including advocacy and presentation skills.
• Proven ability to write a concise report in Bahasa Indonesia and English. 

RemunerationThe remuneration will be set according to National Remuneration Framework Group C, Job Level 2. The remuneration level at which the position is engaged will be based on the successful candidates’ relevant skills and experience. This position is a long-term position, open for National Indonesian applicant.
