Job Summary: 

The Design Coordinator plays a crucial role in our Project and Construction Management team, ensuring seamless communication and coordination between design professionals, contractors, and various stakeholders on construction sites. This position is responsible for overseeing design-related activities and ensuring that design plans are executed accurately and efficiently in alignment with project goals and timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Design Coordination:

• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other design professionals to understand project requirements and specifications.
• Review and interpret design documents, including architectural drawings, structural plans, and MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) drawings.

1. Communication and Documentation:

• Facilitate effective communication between the design team and construction personnel.
• Maintain comprehensive records of design changes, revisions, and approvals.
• Assist in the preparation and distribution of design-related documentation to relevant parties.

1. Quality Assurance:

• Ensure that construction work aligns with the approved design plans and specifications.
• Conduct regular site inspections to identify discrepancies and coordinate resolution with the design team.

1. Schedule Management:

• Monitor design-related milestones and deadlines to ensure timely delivery of design documents.
• Collaborate with project managers to integrate design activities into the overall project schedule.

1. Issue Resolution:

• Identify design-related issues and discrepancies and work with the project team to develop solutions.
• Communicate design changes and updates to all relevant stakeholders.

1. Cost Control:

• Assist in tracking design-related costs and ensure adherence to the project budget.
• Collaborate with procurement and cost management teams to obtain accurate pricing for design changes.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, construction management, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Proven experience in design coordination within the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of construction documents and design software.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic construction environment.
• Familiarity with relevant construction codes and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Professional licensure or certification in architecture, engineering, or construction management.
• Experience with construction project management software.
• Knowledge of sustainable design principles.
