As a Data Engineer for a digital transformation company, your role will be crucial in designing, building, and maintaining the data infrastructure required for the company’s digital transformation initiatives. You will be responsible for implementing data pipelines, optimizing data storage and retrieval, and ensuring the reliability and scalability of data systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including data analysts, data scientists, and software engineers, to support data-driven decision-making and enable efficient data processing and analysis.

Responsibilities:

1. Data Pipeline Development: Design, build, and maintain scalable and efficient data pipelines for extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL) data from various sources into the company’s data infrastructure.
2. Data Modeling and Architecture: Design and implement data models and database structures that meet the company’s requirements for data storage, retrieval, and analysis.
3. Data Integration: Integrate data from multiple sources, including internal systems, external APIs, and third-party data providers, ensuring data consistency, accuracy, and quality.
4. Data Quality and Governance: Implement data quality monitoring and data governance processes to ensure the reliability, integrity, and security of the company’s data assets.
5. Performance Optimization: Identify and implement performance optimization techniques to improve data processing speed and efficiency.
6. Data Warehousing and Storage: Manage data warehousing and storage solutions, including selecting appropriate technologies and architectures to meet the company’s scalability and performance needs.
7. Data Transformation and Analysis: Collaborate with data analysts and data scientists to support data transformation, aggregation, and analysis for business intelligence, reporting, and machine learning purposes.
8. Data Security and Compliance: Implement security measures and data privacy protocols to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
9. Documentation and Communication: Create and maintain technical documentation, data dictionaries, and process workflows. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand requirements and provide updates on data engineering projects.

Requirements:

1. Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
2. Technical Skills: Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in data engineering, such as Python, SQL, or Java. Experience with big data processing frameworks like Apache Hadoop or Apache Spark is desirable.
3. Experience: Prior experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role, with a proven track record of designing and implementing data pipelines and data infrastructure solutions. Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is advantageous.
4. Database and ETL Tools: Experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and ETL tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, Talend, Informatica).
5. Data Modeling and Architecture: Understanding of data modeling techniques and data warehousing concepts, including star and snowflake schemas.
6. Data Governance and Compliance: Knowledge of data governance practices, data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), and data security best practices.
7. Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities to tackle complex data engineering challenges.
8. Collaboration: Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
9. Adaptability: Ability to adapt to evolving technologies and changing business needs in a fast-paced digital transformation environment.
