Job description & requirements

Data Engineer

iSIXi seeking a talented and experienced Data Architect to be part of our dynamic team. As a Data Architect, you must be a hands-on, self-starter who loves solving innovative problems in a fast-paced. You will work cross-functionally to ensure data availability, reliability, and system performance. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient data pipelines for data ingestion, transformation, and processing. The successful candidate will be responsible for a critical role in designing, building, and maintaining data infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will be an exceptionally strong communicator, both written and verbally, have a well-rounded technical background, and come with a history of leading large-scale projects end-to-end.

Who & What are we looking for :

• Willing to work in Bali, Indonesia and travel as required.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Information System or a related field.
• Possess a minimum of 5 years of end to end professional experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role, demonstrating expertise with large-scale data systems and platforms.
• Solid understanding of data modelling concepts, ETL processes, and database technologies (relational and non-relational databases).
• Strong knowledge of SQL and database systems.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on quality and keen attention to detail, and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to electively manage relationships with stakeholders at all levels 
• Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies, such as Agile
• Fluent communication in the English language, both spoken and written, is a must.

Accountabilities :

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient data pipelines for data ingestion, transformation, and processing.
• Integrate data from various sources and systems, ensuring seamless and reliable data flow throughout the organisation.
• Design and implement data models and schemas to support efficient querying, analysis, and storage, optimising data structures and storage mechanisms for performance and scalability.
• Develop and maintain robust ETL processes for data transformation and loading into target systems, including data cleansing, validation, and enrichment.
• Build and maintain data warehousing solutions to support analytical reporting, ad-hoc querying, and business intelligence needs, implementing efficient data indexing and partitioning strategies.
• Monitor and optimise the performance of data systems, identifying and resolving bottlenecks and inefficiencies, and implementing performance-enhancing techniques.
• Collaborate closely with users to understand data requirements and deliver effective data solutions, communicating technical concepts and solutions to non-technical stakeholders.
• Establish data governance practices, including data cataloging, lineage, and metadata management, and document data flows, system architecture, and processes.
• Stay updated with emerging trends, tools, and technologies in data engineering, and identify and propose innovative solutions to enhance data engineering capabilities.
