As a Cost Control for our nickel mining contractor, you will play a crucial role in managing and monitoring costs to ensure delivered within budget. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining cost control systems, analyzing cost data, forecasting budget needs, and providing actionable insights to support decision-making and improve financial performance.

Our client is a mining contractor and a subsidiary of a prominent nickel mining group. We offer comprehensive mining services, including overburden removal, ore extraction, hauling, and other mining activities.

Description

Key responsibilities includes:

• Develop and manage transportation cost control systems.
• Create and oversee transportation budgets aligned with project goals.
• Forecast transportation costs considering fuel, maintenance, and logistics
• Track and analyze transportation spending against the budget.
• Investigate and address cost discrepancies.
• Prepare regular cost reports and performance summaries.
• Generate detailed cost reports for management.Provide forecasts and variance analyses for strategic decisions.
• Implement and enforce transportation cost control procedures.
• Identify and apply cost-saving and efficiency measures.
• Collaborate with transportation and logistics teams to gather cost data.
• Communicate cost control strategies and updates to stakeholders.
• Maintain records of cost control activities.
• Ensure compliance with contracts and industry standards.
• Recommend and implement improvements to cost control systems.
• Stay updated on industry trends and best practices.

Profile

• Bachelor’s degree graduate. Certifications such as CMA (Certified Management Accountant) or CPA (Certified Public Accountant) are a plus.
• At least 7 years of experience in cost control, financial analysis, or a similar role within the transportation or mining sectors.
• Experience in transportation within a mining context is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
• Proficiency in financial management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with various teams and stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to a dynamic environment.
• Understanding of cost control principles, financial reporting, and transportation logistics.
• Familiarity with nickel mining operations and transportation needs is advantageous.
