Conservation Finance Manager 
(Code: CFM)

Konservasi Indonesia (KI) is seeking a qualified and motivated individual Conservation Finance Manager. This position will serve as an expert, advising internal and external partners on a range of sustainable financing mechanisms and strategies including but not limited to design, structuring, and execution of trust fund, impact investment fund, bonds and other capital markets transaction and private market debt and equity vehicles and instruments that advance institutional and partner country climate, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development goals and objectives in for Sundaland Program. The Conservation Finance Manager will lead the initiative, engagement, maintain and enhance the sustainability towards the best practices available based on science. This position is expected to be independent and reliable in maintaining the quality of work in the following supporting activities such as research, analysis, develop and refine existing material using the latest science/business case/ facts that are recognized in the market.

Conservation Finance Manager must also have demonstrated knowledge or experience on the role and development of conservation finance must be able to work across a broad range of stakeholders including external partners in the private sector, development finance institutions, project developers, government, and civil society. Must have business and commercial acumen. and be able to articulate an actionable plan for developing a pipeline of high-quality emissions reductions and NCS projects (environmental and social approach) at scale.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Identify and develop strategic conservation finance partnerships and opportunities in Indonesia.
• Conduct assessments including Indonesia regulatory frameworks to identify opportunities for the sustainable financing of natural resources conservation and livelihood programs in North Sumatra
• Develop and evaluate economic incentives and financing mechanisms for biodiversity conservation, restoration and sustainable livelihood.
• Develop local capacity to support improved financing arrangements for natural resources conservation at target Indonesian provinces project design,
• Building a compelling business case for investment in conservation programmes.
• Provide technical inputs to KI program strategy and alignment with global and national government priorities.
• Represent CI program in meetings or events at provincial level and conduct regular meetings with respective government offices and build strong relationships and collaborations with other stakeholders including, private sectors, universities, and NGOs.
• Contribute to donor reports in collaboration with program manager and relevant staff.
• Serve as a recognized technical resource and share technical best practices within and outside KI.

QUALIFICATIONS

• A degree in natural resource economics, sustainable development, forestry, and natural resource management-related science. Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of full-time work experience in relevant field
• Experience in economic valuation study for terrestrial and marine ecosystems.
• Experience in structuring mechanisms for financing conservation programs such as trust fund, BLUD, bonds, impact investment, etc.
• Experience in establishing the BLUD and designing institutional training for sustainability.
• Proven knowledge or experience in climate-related issues including carbon crediting transactions (origination, voluntary carbon market standards, and implementation), terrestrial and/or blue carbon.
• Experience managing complex projects. Excellent analytical skills.
• Excellent in reporting, written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly organized and strong attention to detail.
• Demonstrated team player.
• Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to build on existing knowledge to develop new approaches.
• Demonstrated track record of working effectively and collaboratively with multicultural, international, multidisciplinary teams to produce concrete results, including strong capacity to navigate diversity, equity, and inclusion.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Work is performed in a typical office environment which requires field trip to KI’s sites and other location if needed.
• Flexibility to work outside normal work hours to meet deadlines as needed.
