The role is for the Communications Manager for Indonesia. Key responsibilities include supporting and executing AkzoNobel’s global communications strategy and building the Corporate Brand and reputation within the country. Developing and executing local communications and Corporate Branding plans (with a focus on digital and social media) and driving reputation activation in the market to support all AkzoNobel businesses in Indonesia to achieve leading market positions in Indonesia.

Be a member of the Communications team in South APAC and provide Communications and Public Affairs support to build, strengthen or protect the reputation and the business in the market. The candidate will be expected to understand the needs of the various Business Units (products, issues, customers, etc) as well as develop knowledge of the key trends and developments in the chemicals and coatings industry.

This role is responsible for building the Corporate Brand and reputation, including all integrated communications activation and execution support spanning social media, external communications, sustainability communication, crisis communication and internal communications in Indonesia.

The candidate should also proactively engage with business and functional leaders to help them use communications internally and externally to deliver business goals, increase employee engagement in line with business priorities and maintain a high share of voice vs competition. Ideally the candidate should be able to provide communication counsel and coaching to the local business units and industrial sites of AkzoNobel in the market.

As the local media contact for all media queries in the country, this role needs to proactively develop relationship with press and electronic media as well organize press conference, media interviews, craft press reports and speeches, arrange media familiarization trips to our sites. For a media interview, the role must :

•          do a check on the background of media and journalist, understand the media agenda and angle of story before committing to the interview

•          prepare the messaging and the spokesperson

•          moderate the interview or deflect leading questions

•          During crisis situation, the role need to work closely with the site and business/Country head to prepare internal staff communications and media communications tool kit including news statement, responses and reports during crisis as well as monitor the situation closely with HSE&S and businesses when situation arises in factory (eg accident, strikes, contamination). Media coverage must be scanned daily and scenarios planning and media statements to be made accordingly.
