Commercial Manager – Shipping Industry

Are you ready to lead commercial operations and drive growth in the dynamic shipping industry? We are looking for a Commercial Manager to join our team and oversee the marketing and operational performance of our tanker fleet, specializing in petrochemical, petroleum, and dry bulk shipments.

Key Responsibilities

1. Tanker Fleet Marketing and Utilization

• Market tanker space for petrochemical, petroleum, and dry bulk cargoes.
• Ensure vessel utilization aligns with management’s Time Charter Equivalent (TCE) targets.

2. Voyage and COA Costing & Negotiation

• Prepare cost calculations for voyage charters and Contracts of Affreightment (COA).
• Lead negotiations with potential charterers to secure favorable agreements.

3. New Market Development

• Identify and secure new clients to expand the company’s market share.
• Explore opportunities for additional cargo types to maximize fleet potential.

4. Client Relationship Management

• Conduct regular client visits to maintain strong relationships and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Ensure continuity of charters through excellent client engagement.

5. Client Database Management

• Update and maintain accurate databases for existing and prospective clients.

6. Freight Invoice Accuracy and Timeliness

• Ensure completeness and final verification of freight invoices.
• Oversee timely execution of billing processes.

7. Fleet Scheduling and Reporting

• Manage weekly fleet schedules to ensure vessel availability.
• Generate periodic reports on vessel utilization, revenue, and operational costs.

8. Operational Excellence

• Ensure smooth operations for all chartered vessels.
• Oversee on-time delivery and procurement of operational supplies, including:
  • Bunker fuel
  • Freshwater
  • Required permits
  • Port disbursements

9. Zero-Delay Assurance

• Ensure timely loading and discharge operations with zero issues.

10. Operational Coordination

• Monitor vessel operations and collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure seamless execution.

Requirements

• Proven experience in the shipping industry, preferably in commercial or operations roles.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and relationship-building skills.
• Knowledge of tanker operations, chartering processes, and cost calculations.
• Familiarity with operational logistics such as bunker procurement, permits, and port disbursements.
• Proficient in reporting and database management.
