Opportunity Summary:

We are looking for an accomplished professional to lead our Business Development and M&A activities in Vietnam and Indonesia. In this pivotal role, you will drive the expansion of Dr.Max, Central Europe’s leading pharmacy chain, into these dynamic markets. Your efforts will directly contribute to deploying over USD 100 million of capital in the short to mid-term, establishing our presence and scaling our pharmacy retail platform in Southeast Asia. This position offers a clear path to a leadership role within Penta Investments or Dr.Max as we grow our operations in the region.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Business Development:
  • Identify and assess potential pharmacy chain acquisition targets in Vietnam and Indonesia.
  • Build strong relationships with local business owners, industry leaders, and regulatory bodies.
  • Conduct in-depth market research to stay ahead of industry trends and competitive movements.
  • Develop and execute strategic market entry plans aligned with Dr.Max’s objectives.
• M&A Execution:
  • Lead all stages of the M&A process, from sourcing to closing deals.
  • Coordinate with legal, financial, and operational teams to ensure comprehensive due diligence.
  • Negotiate deal terms and structures effectively with target companies and their advisors.
  • Present compelling investment proposals to internal stakeholders and investment committees.
• Strategic Collaboration:
  • Align regional initiatives with our corporate strategy in collaboration Penta Investments and Dr.Max teams.
  • Provide actionable insights on integration plans and identify synergies post-acquisition.
  • Monitor the performance of acquired businesses to ensure they meet strategic and financial targets.
• Relationship Management:
  • Foster trust with internal teams and external partners.
  • Represent Penta Investments and Dr.Max at key industry events and networking opportunities.
  • Manage communications with advisors, consultants, and potential partners in the region.

Candidate Profile:

• Experience:
  • 5–10 years in investment banking, corporate development, or M&A, focused on Southeast Asia.
  • Demonstrated success in executing transactions in Vietnam and/or Indonesia.
  • Experience in retail or consumer sectors; knowledge of healthcare or pharmacy businesses is advantageous.
  • Exposure to international organizations for cultural alignment.
• Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • MBA or relevant advanced degree is a plus.
• Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong analytical abilities with expertise in financial modeling and valuation.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and proficiency in structuring deals.
  • Deep understanding of regulations and business practices in Vietnam and Indonesia.
  • Capable of conducting thorough due diligence across all business areas.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build cross-cultural relationships.
  • Adaptable and willing to travel frequently within the region.

  • Fluent in English.
  • Knowledge of Vietnamese or Indonesian is beneficial but not required.
• Other Qualifications:
  • Established network in the Southeast Asian investment and business community.
  • Familiarity with tech-driven retail operations is helpful.
  • Experience in corporate development within multinational companies is desirable.
