Lowongan Kerja Ketapang Posisi Associate, Sustainable & Regenerative Oil Palm di PT Rainforest Alliance

Position summary:The Associate, Sustainable & Regenerative Oil Palm will be responsible for coordinating the implementation of training programs for donor-supported farmer sustainability projects. The post holder also supports the Team Manager, Palm Oil, in implementing all other oil palm and other related commodities field-related field programs in West Kalimantan, Indonesia. The post holder will help in implementing a series of field activities in Ketapang District, West Kalimantan. The Associate will help communities develop their communication skills to have a dialogue with other stakeholders, especially with the private sector and the Ketapang district government. The post holder will also contribute to the plan and coordinating training related to good agricultural practices, regenerative agriculture, institutional development and strengthening, and sustainability standards, develop training materials, monitor field implementation, coordinate field work with others in the farm programs team, and support farmer access to preferred markets development from the commodity source. The Associate will take care of adequate communication and information exchange on-field activities with all stakeholders at the field level.

Responsibilities: 

• Coordinate palm oil smallholder inclusiveness worksCoordinate Rainforest Alliance works and interventions related to oil palm smallholder inclusiveness initiative implementation at the landscape and jurisdiction level. Sustainable & Regenerative Oil Palm Associate coordinates Rainforest Alliance works in promoting Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), regenerative practices, farm mapping and data collection, institutional development and strengthening, and sustainable practices for smallholders and other oil palm growers; this includes the design or review of training modules and curricula.

• Conduct engagement within activities under the smallholder program.The Associate is responsible for executing deliverables at the landscape/jurisdictional level, including coordinating and building communication with all relevant stakeholders, e.g., district/provincial government, companies, CSOs/CBOs, Cooperatives, farmer associations, communities, etc.

• Assisting palm oil-related research and analysisResponsible for supporting activities at the landscape and jurisdiction level that relate to program or project deliverables. The research might include governance and spatial planning;

• ReportPrepare and maintain periodical reports i.e. semi-annual (6 months) and annual reports, and analyses such as the progress of transformation and outcome for internal and external use;

• Represent Rainforest Alliance to conduct consultation and coordination with key stakeholders at the sub-national level;

  • Support palm oil-related analysis and research as well as support national palm oil program deliverables;

  • Other duties assigned by Team Manager, Palm Oil.

QUALIFICATION:

• Minimum bachelor’s degree in agronomy, forestry, biology, NRM, or other related fields.

• 2-5 years of professional work experience with organizations and communities in Indonesia’s farming sector and project-based activities; experience with oil palm is preferable. Additional knowledge of natural rubber and forestry will be an advantage.

• Knowledge of oil palm-related initiatives will be an advantage.

• Reasonable understanding of computer programs for reporting purposes (MS Office and Internet) and use of GIS tools are preferable.

• Familiar with supply chains, farming and agriculture production and processing activities, Oil palm issues, training, value chains, auditing, and group events especially related to smallholder farmer producers.

• Knowledge of palm oil sustainability standards such as RSPO & ISPO is an advantage.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in Indonesian. Sufficient skills in English is an advantage.

• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and willingness and ability to spend significant periods (about 50% of working days) in remote areas, in areas with some relative hardships in living conditions.
