Role

Reporting to the Managing Partner, APAC, the Country Manager, Indonesia is to contribute to Palladium’s global strategy for growth and excellence through building Palladium’s presence and social impact expertise within Indonesia.
As the face of Palladium in Indonesia, this pivotal role leads government and client engagement and works closely with teams from across Palladium to pursue new opportunities and strategically position Palladium as the primary organization of choice to implement social impact initiatives.

Location

The role is based in Jakarta, Indonesia on a full-time, permanent basis.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of the Country Manager, Indonesia, are as follows:

Strategic contribution

  • Contribute to Palladium’s growth strategy in conjunction with Palladium global leaders, including Regional Business Partners (RBPs), CEO’s, Managing Directors and Directors, through identifying long-term strategic opportunities and matching Indonesia’s social impact agenda with Palladium objectives.
  • Maintain a deep, long-term knowledge of Indonesia’s economic, political, environmental and social landscapes in order to provide in-country expertise and advice to project and Palladium leaders, and contribute insights to our long-term strategy in Asia-Pacific.

Stakeholder engagement and business development

  • Build, nurture and maintain broad and deep networks and long-term relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials/ministers, community and business leaders, donor representatives, bilateral donor agencies, Palladium Team Leaders, Palladium RBPs, CEO’s, Managing Directors, Directors, and technical experts.
  • Build strategic relationships with, and stay abreast of the long-term strategy and plans, of current and potential donors and clients to anticipate and pursue future opportunities

Leadership

  • Solve problems and make decisions in complex and potentially politically sensitive or volatile situations, where an understanding of decision repercussions is anticipated and possible risks mitigated.
  • Influence and contribute to the continuous development of outstanding people talent within in-country project teams.

Operations

  • Oversee all aspects of the unit’s day to day activities including optimising resources and facilities across projects to streamline business support and achieve cost savings.
  • Comply with local legislations and regulations, as well as all Palladium policies, procedures and processes. This includes our code of conduct and ethics guidelines in addition to all client/partner requirements.

Required Qualifications and Key Competencies

  • Extensive relevant work experience in-country, preferably in or connected to the international development industry.
  • A deep understanding of the economic, social and political context of the region in which the role operates.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated influencing, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Connection to a broad and relevant network of professionals, and strong networking and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organisational, strategic thinking and planning, and project management skills.
  • Excellent business development and client relationship management skills.
  • Demonstrated dedication to equity, diversity and inclusion, particularly in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Written and verbal communication skills in Bahasa Indonesia are desirable.
  • Willingness to travel and work abroad a minimum of eight weeks per year.
