The Finance Advisor for Economics business will be part of the Shell Finance Indonesia pool that will provide critical finance support to a successful, established, and growing business. The role also serves as the face of Finance for opportunities or challenges prioritized based on value and risk. This role will also be responsible for the delivery of Finance capability required to support a set of clearly defined business outcomes across multiple activities and assets.

What’s the role?

Accountabilities:

  • Focus on activities within the Mobility Indonesian business (review business cases, Investment Proposals and Capital Investment Governance, Business Initiatives Valuations and Modelling, site performance and local promotion support, Deal management, Energy transition agenda, inorganic opportunity, and Partnership Valuation.
  • Expected to contribute to cross-business opportunities and regional and global projects (such as assurance assignments, new business model projects and interface with the Economics Center of Excellence).
  • Lead finance and economics review activities including providing insight and conduct review challenges on Capital investment proposals and Sales & Marketing business cases (new product launch, campaign, promotion, etc.).
  • Independently ensure value and risks are made transparent and understood in decision making.
  • Acts as the finance lead for Mobility business on network, business development and growth opportunities, from opportunity framing to execution and eventual operations, partnering with business and finance advisors, such as: new market entries, controlled market exits, deal offers, new (disruptive) business models, etc.
  • Country focal point for Mobility to review the valuation tools, including to ensure the tools are up to date and align with the business performance, targets, and aspirations.
  • Perform valuation of business initiatives, site performance and local promo and support business modelling.
  • Provide front line finance support, acting as the trusted advisor as first port of call in the delivery of the day-to-day finance support in the business.
  • Autonomously collaborate and coordinate the involvement of Center of Excellence (tax, controller, treasury and the Reporting & Analysis team) for above pre-agreed threshold cases.
  • In addition, there will be selective activity in support of the wider finance in the business agenda, working with the cross-business finance advisor, global and regional finance advisor, and Economics Center of Excellence.
  • Role will require 10% of travelling.

What we need from you

We hope to see the following in your CV:

  • Must have a Bachelors degree in Accounting or Economics with a minimum of 5 years working experience in the respective fields of study.
  • Proficient and experienced in working in Excel with Discounted Cash Flow Valuation, Financial & Risk Modelling and impact on accounts.
  • Must have strong Project Management skills and flexibility given the support across multiple activities and assets.
  • Expertise across the spectrum of Finance competencies.
  • Strong in managing workload and managing priority towards daily business proposals review (+100/year) at the same time agile, to allocate time and priorities for projects as and when the business identifies the opportunities and when facing challenges.
  • Able to quickly understand value and risk drivers, strong commercial acumen, ability to assess and shape complex commercial structures and value chains.
  • Ability to challenge, support and build trust and credibility with business partners.
  • Ability to gain the confidence of various internal and external parties building on strong knowledge and understanding of the business drivers, value, and risk.
  • Maturity and authority to decide when to involve Center of Excellence team and effectively play the independent Finance role.
  • Problem solving mindset with the courage to ensure professional financial rigor is applied to commercial decision-making process with risk management bringing analytics and insights to the table.
  • Ability to rapidly understand the specific business or function context for which activities in the pool concept are linked to.
  • Candidates from the Oil & Gas and FMCG industries are preferred.
  • Must be proficient in the English language.
