Our client is looking for an experienced and dynamic Chief Risk Officer to join as a key member of our leadership team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 20 years of progressive experience in the financial industry, with a strong focus on credit risk and collections within the multifinance sector.

Description

1. Strategic Leadership:

• Develop and communicate the company’s risk management strategy in alignment with the organization’s overall goals and objectives.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to integrate risk management considerations into business decisions and planning.
• Provide thought leadership on emerging risk trends and market developments within the multifinance industry.

1. Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

• Oversee the assessment of credit risk across all products and services, and implement effective risk mitigation strategies.
• Monitor and evaluate portfolio performance, identifying potential areas of concern and taking timely corrective actions.
• Develop and refine risk models, methodologies, and tools to enhance risk assessment accuracy.

1. Credit Underwriting and Approval:

• Lead the credit underwriting process, ensuring sound evaluation of creditworthiness and adherence to established lending criteria.
• Collaborate with underwriting teams to make informed credit decisions that balance risk and business objectives.

1. Collections Strategy & Management:

• Implement effective collections strategies to minimize delinquency rates and optimize recovery efforts.
• Evaluate and enhance collections processes, leveraging data analytics and technology to improve efficiency and results.
• Engage with legal teams when necessary to manage legal proceedings related to collections.

1. Regulatory Compliance:

• Stay up-to-date with relevant laws and regulations governing the multifinance industry, ensuring the company’s adherence to compliance requirements.
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with regulatory authorities and industry associations.

1. Risk Reporting and Communication:

• Develop and present comprehensive risk reports to executive leadership and the board of directors, highlighting key risk exposures and mitigation efforts.
• Communicate risk-related matters to relevant stakeholders, fostering a culture of risk awareness and accountability.

1. Talent Development and Management:

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing risk management team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
• Encourage collaboration and knowledge-sharing within the risk management function.

Profile

• Minimum of 20+ years of progressive experience in risk management within the multifinance industry.
• Strong background in credit risk assessment, underwriting, and collections.
• In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices related to risk management in the multifinance sector.
• Proven leadership experience, with the ability to develop and execute risk management strategies at the executive level.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant professional certifications are a plus.
