Job Description

The opportunity

Scrum Master role is a servant-leader who focuses on ensuring continues delivery of the business value by implementing Agile framework & practices and help team to achieve highly functional and productive teams.

TASK & RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Responsible to ensure the Agile practices & process are implemented by doing mentoring and coaching the team and organization for continues improvement
  • Enabling the smooth working of Agile team (Squad member) on daily basis that will involve removing impediments (blockers) at the Squad level on a day-to-day basis
  • Managing the complexity in technical and business dependencies by actively listening, tracking and do adaptive planning to reduce the delivery risk and ensure that has minimum impediment for Squad members
  • Help the team to identify, eliminate impediments (blockers), and manage risk for Squad members.
  • Work with the other roles to help with prioritization and facilitation of various discussion and problem-solving session.
  • Consistent exercise of continues learning, leading by example, independent judgement, and discretion

Individual Accountabilties :

  • Implementation of Agile framework with Scrum principles and practice on Squad level including facilitate on Scrum events.
  • Mentoring and coaching Squad to ensure the delivery of incremental business value and removing the impediments for several Agile Squads in one Value Stream including
    • Coaching Product Owner to manage and grooming product backlog,
    • Coaching Developers to maintain sprint backlog and its delivery,
    • Supporting Squad in the delivery process and its governance,
    • Supporting Squad to create sustainable development process.
  • Proactively provides feedback to keep delivery on track and address issue in timely manner
  • Doing assessment and monitoring team’s Agility practices and identifies the opportunity for Squad improvement
  • Care for people and highly curious about people development with group dynamic to maintain the team well-being
  • Actively participate in Agile events in organization
  • Nurture team development and the capability
  • Ability to build strong trust relationship amongst the stakeholders
  • Embrace learning culture organization and encourage Squad to involve in the process with sharing knowledge within/outside the Squad
  • Working knowledge of Manulife Technology’s strategy

What we are looking for

  • Experience and understanding of best practices and techniques for practicing, teaching, and coaching the Agile methodologies
  • Up to 2 years of experience as Scrum Master preferably from Financial Industry
  • Scrum Master Certification is an advantage
  • Experience with empirical process control, event-based practice, system thinking, negotiation and facilitation
  • Awareness and experience in several Agile techniques: User Stories, Definition of Done, Continues Integration, Continues Delivery, Automated Testing, and Retrospective method.
  • Experience in using a variety of agile tools to manage backlog and track the iteration; e.g JIRA, Confluence.
  • Have strong understanding of the software development life cycle, has detail oriented and analytical skills
  • Proactive and have good interpersonal skill, including learning, sharing, teaching, brainstorming, and team building skills
  • Highly curious in learning new things and applying it in practice
  • As team player that able to work effectively at all levels of an organization with the ability to influence others to continuously do the improvements.
  • Good verbal and written communication; able to effectively articulate technical vision, possibilities, and outcomes
