About the Role

Selong Selo Resort & Residences, an award-winning luxury destination in South Lombok, is seeking an accomplished and forward-thinking Director of Engineering to oversee all technical operations, maintenance, and infrastructure management across the resort and residences.

This leadership role ensures that all facilities, utilities, and systems operate safely, efficiently, and sustainably, while upholding the brand’s commitment to excellence, guest comfort, and environmental stewardship. The Director of Engineering will lead a skilled team and collaborate closely with senior management to support ongoing operations, renovations, and long-term asset preservation.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

·       Oversee the daily operations of all engineering functions, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, civil, and HVAC systems.

·       Ensure that all resort facilities, villas, and public areas are maintained to the highest standards of safety, functionality, and presentation.

·       Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs to minimize downtime and optimize operational efficiency.

·       Lead emergency response and crisis management protocols related to technical systems and infrastructure.

Project & Asset Management

·       Plan, coordinate, and manage all capital improvement, renovation, and infrastructure projects in collaboration with the management team and external contractors.

·       Monitor project timelines, budgets, and quality standards to ensure successful completion and alignment with the resort’s vision.

·       Maintain accurate documentation of all assets, maintenance records, and compliance certifications.

Sustainability & Efficiency

·       Champion energy conservation and sustainable engineering initiatives to reduce environmental impact and operating costs.

·       Introduce innovative technologies and systems that enhance operational performance and resource efficiency.

·       Ensure compliance with local environmental, safety, and building regulations.

Team Leadership & Development

·       Lead, motivate, and mentor the engineering team, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and professional growth.

·       Establish clear goals, training programs, and succession plans for key technical positions.

·       Promote strong interdepartmental collaboration with Operations, Housekeeping, and Front Office teams.

Financial & Administrative Management

·       Prepare and manage annual engineering budgets, capital expenditure plans, and project cost forecasts.

·       Control operational expenses through efficient resource management and vendor negotiations.

·       Provide regular performance and maintenance reports to the General Manager and Executive Committee.

Qualifications & Experience

·       Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil) or equivalent technical discipline.

·       Minimum 8–10 years’ progressive experience in engineering management within luxury resorts, hotels, or mixed-use developments.

·       Proven expertise in preventive maintenance, capital project management, and energy conservation.

·       Strong leadership and organizational skills with a results-driven and hands-on approach.

·       Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities; fluent in English (spoken and written).

·       In-depth knowledge of local building codes, environmental standards, and safety regulations.
