About the role

Byast Design Studio is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Interior Designer to join our small but dynamic team in Malang, East Java. As a Senior Interior Designer, you’ll play a key role in shaping design visions and creating meaningful interior experiences that reflect both our clients’ needs and Byast’s sensibility.

We’re a casual, home-based studio — collaborative, grounded, and design-driven — where ideas grow organically over good conversations (and sometimes coffee on the porch). If you’re someone who values thoughtful design and a relaxed yet purposeful work environment, we’d love to meet you.

What you’ll be doing

• Lead the conceptual design process, translating client briefs into innovative and functional interior design solutions

• Collaborate closely with the design team to develop detailed design plans, specifications, and 3D visualisations

• Manage the implementation of design projects, ensuring seamless coordination with contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders

• Stay up-to-date with the latest design trends, materials, and technologies, and incorporate them into your work

• Mentor and guide junior designers, sharing your expertise and contributing to the professional development of the team

• Actively participate in client presentations and pitch meetings, effectively communicating design concepts and solutions

What we’re looking for

• Minimum 2 years of proven experience as an Interior Designer, and willing to work in Malang.

• Strong expertise in a range of interior design disciplines, including space planning, lighting design, material selection, and project management

• Excellent technical skills in CAD software, 3D modelling, and visual presentation tools

• Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to present your ideas to clients and stakeholders

• Passion for the industry and a keen eye for design trends and innovations
