POSITION INTRODUCTORY:

Production Manager oversees both the physical assembly of products and the chemical processes involved, ensuring production runs smoothly, efficiently, and meets quality and safety standards. Key duties include managing staff, planning production schedules, maintaining equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and optimizing workflows for quality, quantity, and timely delivery of products.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Production Planning & Scheduling: Develop and manage production schedules to ensure efficient use of resources and timely completion of orders. 

• Team & Resource Management: Lead, motivate, and manage production teams, supervisors, and support staff, and oversee human and material resources. 

• Quality Control: Ensure all finished products meet defined quality standards and that both raw materials and final products are thoroughly tested and documented. 

• Safety & Compliance: Implement and enforce stringent health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures, especially critical for chemical production. 

• Process Improvement: Identify and implement initiatives for continuous improvement, such as Lean Manufacturing, to reduce costs, increase productivity, and improve workflow. 

• Budget & Cost Control: Monitor production costs, manage the budget, and identify opportunities for cost-saving measures within the production process. 

• Cross-Functional Communication: Effectively communicate with internal stakeholders, including upper management, and potentially external partners and customers. 

• Performs other tasks he/she is qualified to do and as assigned by his/her superiors.

• Leadership & Motivation: The ability to lead, train, and motivate teams to achieve production goals.

• Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of both manufacturing processes (e.g., assembly) and chemical production methods, including relevant equipment and quality control methods.

• Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to analyze production data, identify bottlenecks, and develop effective solutions to production challenges.

• Strategic & Financial Acumen: The capacity to think strategically about budgets, costs, and resource allocation to achieve organizational objectives.

• Organizational Skills: Excellent planning, coordination, and organizational skills to manage complex production operations.

REQUIREMENTS:

• A bachelor’s degree (Min. S1) in an engineering field, such as industrial or chemical engineering, is often required.

• A minimum of 5years in a manufacturing environment, including roles in production management, material planning, and scheduling, is common.

• Assembly Production: Experience in assembly line design, setup, and optimizing resource usage is a key requirement. 

• Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are essential for data analysis, reporting, and presentations.

• Knowledge of technical equipment and specific manufacturing processes

• Understanding of quality management systems, such as ISO standards, and the ability to analyse production data.

• Leadership: Ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams, including hiring, training, performance reviews, and managing disciplinary processes

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

• Project Management: Proven ability to manage projects, monitor processes, and meet production goals within deadlines and budgets.

• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to interpret data, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements in production processes

• Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with teams, management, and other departments

• Safety & Compliance: Expertise in planning and implementing health and safety procedures and ensuring compliance with organizational and government policies

OTHERS: 

• Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with production tools and machinery is a plus

• Specialized Knowledge: Chemical Production. Understanding of chemical production processes, lab safety, quality control, and relevant environmental and safety regulations will be added advantages.
