Objectives of the programme:

WHO Country Office Indonesia provides continuous technical support to the Government of Indonesia (GoI) in formulation, implementation and evaluation of national health policies, strategies and plans as guided by the WHO Country Cooperation Strategy (CCS). In collaboration with other development partners at national level, WHO Country Office Indonesia supports GoI efforts to achieve disease-specific targets for NTDs. The GoI has already attained significant achievements in progress against the five main NTDs, committed to expand the services for other vector-borne NTDs, and re-attained country commitment to achieve the eradication, elimination and control of NTDs by 2030.

Description of duties:

Technical Support

Under the direct supervision of Medical Officer Communicable Diseases as well as in coordination/collaboration with the Ministry of Health, and also broad guidance of the WHO Representative to Indonesia, the incumbent will work as follows:

  • Support Ministry of Health in the adoption and implementation of global NTDs roadmap;
  • Assist National Programme to monitor routine data collection from province and district level for NTDs and results of surveys related to the diseases;
  • Assist National Programme and WHO Country Office Indonesia for data collection and reporting from national to regional and global level, including the submission of Joint Application Packages and Annual Leprosy Statistics;
  • Provide technical support and assist in capacity strengthening at national and sub-national level including planning, active case detection, surveillance and timely response to the outbreak of Rabies, Dengue and other VBDs in coordination with all key stakeholders.
  • Monitor the logistics of NTDs programme at the national level and timely inform the updates of inventory of drugs and diagnostics to the MOH and NPO NTDs to ensure uninterrupted supply in NTDs area of work.
  • Perform any other tasks pertaining to the National Programme as required by the WHO Representative to Indonesia, Medical Officer CDS and/or the National Professional Officer NTDs.

Management Support

Coordination: The SSA holder works intensively with NTDs Programme WHO Country Office for Indonesia and Sub-Directorate of Neglected Diseases and responds to any queries from WHO-SEARO, WHO-HQ, and donors/partners as needed by programmes.

Meetings: The SSA holder attends relevant meetings as facilitator, organizer, or other relevant functions relevant to its scope of work. She/ he also does consultations and discussions with Sub- Directorate of Neglected Diseases and relevant partners when necessary.

Document review: To enable to work efficiently and effectively, the SSA holder should refer to available documents relevant to provide necessary technical assistances for WHO and Ministry of Health.

Development of progress and final report: This document will serve as a reference and documentation for WHO and National Programmes, and one of performance evaluation tools.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, ETC.

Education Qualifications:

Essential: Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, health science or related field from a recognized university

Desirable:

  • Postgraduate degree in public health
  • Training on data management

Experience:

Essential: At least two (2) years of professional work experience in communicable diseases and/or Neglected Tropical Diseases area of works

Desirable:

  • Four years’ experience working with the national government, provincial or district offices
  • Experience of working in the UN or other international development organizations

Languages:

Fluent in English and Bahasa Indonesia

  • Work is performed in normal working environment.

Remuneration: National Consultant – NTD. Level A. Monthly remuneration between IDR 28,279,460 and 45,561,193 (in accordance with WHO Salary Scale for SSA).
