The Waiter/Waitress is responsible for providing excellent customer service to guests by serving food and beverages and ensuring a pleasant dining experience. This role demands a friendly and professional attitude, good communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a dynamic environment. The Waiter/Waitress plays a crucial part in maintaining the establishment’s reputation and success.
Key Responsibilities
* Customer Service:
* Present menus, explain dishes, and answer questions about food items, ingredients, and preparation methods.
* Serve food and beverages quickly and efficiently, adhering to established service standards.
* Anticipate and respond to customer needs and requests throughout their meal.
* Handle customer complaints and concerns professionally and promptly, escalating to a supervisor when necessary.
* Thank customers for their visit and invite them to return.
* Table Maintenance and Setup:
* Ensure tables and dining areas are clean and organized at all times.
* Clear dirty dishes, glasses, and cutlery from tables in a timely manner.
* Wipe down tables and chairs, and reset them for the next customers.
* Contribute to the overall cleanliness and organization of the restaurant.
* Menu Knowledge:
* Maintain a thorough understanding of all menu items, including ingredients, allergens, preparation methods, and portion sizes.
* Possess knowledge of available juices, including coffees and teas.
* Be able to make recommendations based on customer preferences.
* Teamwork and Communication:
* Communicate effectively with kitchen staff regarding orders, special requests, and dietary restrictions.
* Collaborate with other wait staff to ensure smooth service.
* Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the supervisor.
* Health and Safety:
* Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations (e.g., proper handwashing, temperature control).
* Maintain a clean and organized work area.
* Follow all establishment policies and procedures regarding safety.
Qualifications
* Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Hospitality training is a plus.
* Experience: Previous experience as a waiter/waitress in a restaurant or hotel setting is highly desirable. Fresh graduates with a strong passion for service are also encouraged to apply.
