Main Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Carry out Top Overhaul for main engines (especially Wärtsilä types W20, W26, W32) and auxiliary engines onboard AHTS vessels.

2. Disassemble and inspect top engine components: cylinder heads, valves, injectors, rocker arms, push rods, etc.

3. Perform cleaning, precision measurement, and replacement of worn or damaged parts according to manufacturer standards.

4. Adjust valve clearances, injector timing, and ensure proper calibration of top-end components.

5. Reassemble engine components with correct torque settings, alignment, and sealing procedures.

6. Conduct test run and performance checks, monitor for leaks, unusual vibrations, temperature, and oil pressure.

7. Document the job: record measurements, replaced parts, torque values, and prepare technical job completion reports.

8. Ensure all activities comply with HSE regulations, ISM Code, and Class Society requirements.

9. Coordinate with the Chief Engineer and Technical Superintendent for planning, execution, and reporting.

Requirements – Senior Technician – Top Overhaul

Education & Background

• Minimum Vocational School (SMK) in Mechanical Engineering or Diploma in Marine/Mechanical Engineering.

• Preferably certified in Wärtsilä Top Overhaul (OEM or authorized local certification).

Work Experience

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience in Top Overhaul of marine diesel engines.

• Must have direct experience working on Wärtsilä engines (W20/W26/W32 series).

• Experience with other marine engines such as MAN, Daihatsu, Yanmar, CAT, or Cummins is an added advantage.

Technical Skills

• Proficient in using precision tools: feeler gauge, torque wrench, dial indicator, micrometer.

• Familiar with fuel injection systems, air intake/exhaust systems, cooling and lubrication circuits.

• Able to follow technical manuals and engine service bulletins accurately.

Additional Qualifications

• Basic Safety Training (BST) and Certificate of Proficiency (COP) for Oiler are preferred.

• Physically fit, detail-oriented, and capable of working in confined and high-temperature engine room environments.

• Willing to work onboard or at dry dock facilities under tight schedules.

• Team player with good communication and reporting skills.
