Job Title: Sales Manager – Powder & Liquid Coating Lines
Location: Indonesia – Preferred Jakarta
Reports to: Regional Sales Manager (Direct)
Dotted-line Reports: Regional Sales Director – Asia Pacific; Head of Full Line Coating (Vietnam)
We are seeking a results-driven Sales Manager to accelerate growth of our powder and liquid full-line coating business in Indonesia. The ideal candidate combines deep technical knowledge of engineered coating systems with proven commercial acumen, capable of transforming customer needs into winning technical quotations and preliminary plant layouts. The role requires building and nurturing a robust sales pipeline, expanding customer networks, and closing projects that meet revenue and margin targets while upholding quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Market Penetration
· Identify and prioritise target industries and accounts for powder and liquid full-line coating systems across Indonesia.
· Actively prospect, qualify, and convert leads through cold calls, referrals, exhibitions, and digital channels.
Solution Proposals & Technical Quotations
· Translate customer requirements into complete technical quotations, including preliminary plant layouts, equipment specifications, costings, and timelines.
· Coordinate with engineering, project management, and supply-chain teams to validate technical solutions, ensure feasibility, and align margin expectations.
Sales Cycle Management
· Drive the entire sales cycle from enquiry to contract signature, including techno-commercial negotiations, contract drafting, and internal approvals.
· Maintain accurate opportunity data and forecasts in the CRM system, providing monthly pipeline and order-intake reports.
Customer Relationship Management
· Build long-term relationships with key decision-makers, consultants, and influencers at domestic and international customer sites.
· Ensure seamless handover to Project Management and Installation teams, remaining the commercial point of contact throughout project execution.
Market Intelligence & Strategy
· Monitor competitor activity, pricing trends, and regulatory changes affecting coating lines, and recommend strategic actions.
· Contribute to annual budgeting and long-range planning for the Indonesia market.
Network & Partnership Development
· Expand and manage a nationwide network of agents, OEM partners, and system integrators to widen market reach.
· Organise product demonstrations, seminars, and roadshows in collaboration with the Marketing team.
Compliance & Risk Management
· Adhere to corporate governance, export-control, and EHS regulations in all sales activities.
· Evaluate credit risk and secure appropriate payment terms, bonds, or letters of credit.
Profile Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Business with strong technical aptitude.
Experience: Minimum 7 years of technical capital-equipment sales, with at least 3 years focussed on powder and/or liquid coating full-line projects (pre-treatment, application, curing, material handling, and recovery systems).
Technical Skills: Ability to read P&IDs, GA drawings and layout plans; proficiency in preparing preliminary 2D/3D layouts using AutoCAD or similar tools; sound understanding of coating process parameters.
Sales Skills: Strategic prospecting; solution-selling; value-based pricing; contract negotiation; key-account management; CRM proficiency (e.g., Salesforce, Dynamics); strong presentation and proposal-writing skills; established network in automotive, appliances, general-industry, or metal-fabrication sectors.
Soft Skills: Self-starter, goal-oriented, persuasive communicator; able to influence C-level stakeholders; cross-cultural sensitivity; fluent in English and Bahasa Indonesia language.
Mobility: Valid passport and driving licence.
Travel Requirements
Extensive travel within Indonesia (≈60%), including customer sites, partner visits, and industry events; occasional travel to ASEAN/Germany for training and strategic meetings.
