Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the housekeeping staff and ensuring that all areas of a facility are kept clean, organized, and well-maintained. Below is a detailed job description for a Housekeeping Supervisor:

Housekeeping Supervisor Job Description:

1. Team Supervision & Leadership:

  • Supervise, train, and manage housekeeping staff, including housekeepers, cleaners, and attendants.
  • Assign tasks and ensure that all team members are working efficiently and following cleaning procedures.
  • Monitor staff performance and provide feedback to improve productivity and service quality.
  • Ensure staff adheres to all housekeeping policies, safety regulations, and cleaning standards.
  • Conduct team meetings to communicate tasks, expectations, and safety guidelines.

2. Cleaning & Maintenance Oversight:

  • Oversee daily cleaning operations of guest rooms, public areas, corridors, restrooms, and other facility spaces.
  • Ensure that all areas are cleaned to the highest standards, including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and sanitizing.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met and any issues are addressed immediately.
  • Manage the cleaning of high-touch areas, ensuring thorough disinfection to maintain hygiene and safety.

3. Inventory & Supply Management:

  • Monitor and manage housekeeping inventory, including cleaning supplies, linens, toiletries, and equipment.
  • Ensure that housekeeping supplies are well-stocked and order new supplies when necessary.
  • Conduct regular inventory checks and maintain accurate records of stock levels.

4. Scheduling & Staff Management:

  • Create staff schedules and assign daily cleaning tasks based on priority and availability.
  • Manage absenteeism and ensure the team is adequately staffed during busy periods.
  • Oversee timekeeping and attendance records for housekeeping staff.
  • Provide motivation and maintain a positive work environment.

5. Customer Service & Satisfaction:

  • Respond to guest requests and complaints regarding cleanliness or housekeeping services in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure that guest rooms are prepared and presented according to hotel or facility standards.
  • Monitor guest feedback and make adjustments to procedures or services to improve satisfaction.

6. Quality Control & Inspections:

  • Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms and public areas to ensure cleanliness and maintenance standards are met.
  • Monitor room cleaning progress and check the condition of linens, furnishings, and fixtures.
  • Report maintenance issues or equipment malfunctions to the appropriate department for repairs.

7. Reporting & Documentation:

  • Maintain records of cleaning assignments, staff performance, and any guest complaints or special requests.
  • Report inventory needs, maintenance issues, and other concerns to management.
  • Prepare daily or weekly reports on the status of housekeeping operations.

8. Training & Development:

  • Train new housekeeping staff on cleaning procedures, safety protocols, and customer service standards.
  • Ensure that staff members stay up-to-date on cleaning methods, equipment, and chemicals.
  • Provide ongoing training to enhance skills and improve team performance.

9. Collaboration & Communication:

  • Communicate regularly with other departments, such as the front desk, maintenance, and management, to ensure smooth operations.
  • Coordinate with the front desk and management regarding special guest requests, VIP rooms, or emergencies.
  • Collaborate with maintenance staff to report and address issues related to the physical condition of the building or equipment.

Qualification : 

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Have 2 years experience in similar roles.
  • Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Previous housekeeping experience, with supervisory experience preferred.
  • Flexibility to work on weekends and holidays, as required by the facility’s operating hours.
