Duties
The Public Engagement Assistant (Eligible Family Member [EFM]) works under the supervision of the Public Affairs Officer (PAO) or PAO designee and has no supervisory responsibilities. Provides policy direction and coordinates oversight of the planning, development, and presentation of Public Diplomacy (PD) Public Engagement (PE) activities, projects, and initiatives designed to engage multiple audience sectors.
Advises on American trends and tracks American influential voices in priority policy fields. Oversees organization of PD programs with local or visiting American experts in support of Mission goals. Researches and recommends qualified American experts for participation and provides advice on engagement strategies and implementation.
Actively participates in all aspects of audience analysis, strategic planning, implementation, and assessment of PD outcomes, based on analysis of American trends, voices, and policies.
Serves as speechwriter for the Ambassador and Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM), and advises Consuls General as requested, to provide clarity and consistency of public remarks across Mission ASEAN. Researches, prepares, obtains clearance, and provides texts for speeches, remarks, informal events, and written articles, as well as providing useful text, talking points, and themes to Mission staff for use in diplomatic and outreach activities.
Develops and maintains productive relationships with public policy institutes, international relations commentators, and other potential partners or participants in Mission public outreach. Conducts PD audience research, and program evaluation and measurement.

Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: This position requires at least four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in a multilingual, multicultural, or multinational work environment focused on one or all of the following: marketing, public relations, communication, or education; with duties in project management, audience or market analysis, strategic planning and evaluation, or multi-media or digital production as a significant part of the job.
Education Requirements:
Mandatory: a university degree is required.
Evaluations:
LANGUAGE: Fluent in Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required. This will be tested. Benefits and Other Info
Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission to ASEAN in Jakarta, Indonesia may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.
For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.
The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
