The Loan Officer plays a pivotal role in facilitating financial solutions for farmers, ensuring their agricultural needs are met through efficient loan processes and personalized support. They engage directly with farmers to assess requirements, manage loan applications, and foster sustainable farming practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Needs Assessment: Conduct meetings with farmers to assess their financial requirements and gather necessary information for loan applications. 
  • Agricultural Requirements Analysis: Analyze farmers’ agricultural needs and promote optimal utilization of agri-inputs based on Good Agricultural Practices and relevant certifications.
  • Education on Inclusive Finance: Educate farmers on inclusive finance principles, loan terms, repayment schedules, and effective financial management practices.
  • Relationship Development: Cultivate strong relationships with farmers to gain insights into their financial challenges and provide tailored solutions to improve agricultural productivity.
  • Loan Application Guidance: Guide farmers through the loan application process, ensuring thorough documentation and adherence to procedural requirements.
  • FarmCloud App Training: Train farmers on how to effectively use the FarmCloud app for loan applications and management.
  • Data Validation: Collaborate with Field Agents and farmers to validate and verify loan application data.
  • Contract Finalization: Finalize loan contracts and provide farmers with clear advice on associated policies and restrictions.
  • Loan File Management: Regularly review active loan files, identifying opportunities to streamline processes and expedite approvals. 
  • Collateral Collection: Collect land titles as collateral for approved loans, ensuring legal compliance and security.
  • Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate credit and loan records, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Loan Monitoring and Collection: Monitor loan submissions and facilitate collections from farmers as per repayment schedules.
  • Internal Coordination: Coordinate internally to ensure seamless delivery of inclusive finance services to farmers. 
  • Interaction Documentation: Record interactions with farmers, loan disbursements, and repayment schedules for accurate reporting.
  • Kiosk Onboarding: Onboard kiosks for agri-input consignment and promote sales under Pay Now or Buy Now Pay Later schemes. 
  • FarmRetail App Training: Train kiosk operators on the use of the FarmRetail app for effective product management.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Agriculture, Business Administration, or related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in roles directly related to agricultural finance, rural banking, agricultural extension services, or agricultural lending.
  • Experience in managing loan portfolios, conducting financial assessments, and working directly with farmers is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with agricultural inputs, crop production cycles, and rural market dynamics is beneficial.
  • Excellent communication, persuasion and negotiation skill
