ABOUT PKBSI

PKBSI (Perhimpunan Kebun Binatang Se-Indonesia) or Indonesian Zoos and Aquariums Association is a non-profit organisation, found in Jakarta on 5th November 1969. PKBSI is a zoo community in Indonesia, that has a partnership with Ministry of Environment and Forestry Indonesia. PKBSI has vision to improve the development and profession of zoo community in Indonesia.

PKBSI provides a network for Indonesian zoos and supports the improvement of standards and active involvement in species conservation. The Association is growing with the increasing number of zoos becoming members and with international collaborations, such as the Global Species Management Plans for 4 Indonesian species (Anoa, Babirusa, Banteng, Sumatran tiger). This is working with zoos and conservation organisations from Europe and North America. PKBSI is recruiting additional staff as Administration Officer who will strengthen the secretariat office.
