  • Develop objectives and annual work plans of Corporate Legal Department in accordance with the work plan of the Legal Department .
  • Delivering the annual budget proposal of Legal Department in Jakarta to the Corporate Legal Manager.
  • Review and provide draft contracts, agreements and internal policies and ensure compliance with all statutory or legal requirements.
  • Ensure contracts relating to the company in Head office and projects in accordance with the procedure.
  • Conduct reconfirmation regarding the contents of a draft contract for Head Office and projects .
  • Monitoring the required license for the company in Head Office.
  • Ensuring the validity of all company licenses in Head Office.
  • Provide legal opinion related to the problems faced by companies and employees concerning the legal aspects.
  • Monitor the ongoing legal process and provide solutions to the problems being faced .
  • Create the subordinates work targets / KPI conduct performance coaching and performance assessment to ensure the achievement of the subordinates targets / KPI.
  • Identify and propose a development method for the subordinates career development.
  • Participate actively in front line negotiations and interface with customers, business partners, suppliers, contractors, regulators, government authorities, etc.
  • Work as an integrated team with all stakeholders both internally and externally, in identifying, mitigating and managing risks on activities, businesses and projects of Sembcorp Industries.
  • Understand, implement and monitor compliance with corporate policies and principles of good corporate governance.
  • Understanding the commercial objectives, strategy, pressure points of the business, reasonable operational knowledge with a view to identifying and assessing the risks and legal issues involved, and effectively communicating this to the business unit or project team to enable them to make well-informed business decisions.
  • Supporting the rollout of all Compliance related policies initiated by the Group Ethics & Compliance function, and perform active monitoring of the requirements, and deliverables, including regular reporting.
  • Led the legal team in any corporate action and financing needed for the company
  • Drafting Memorandum and Articles of Association, obtaining necessary approvals and establishing companies and attending to all corporate secretarial matters relating thereto
  • Oversee the daily management of the legal function (including administration of all legal documentation) and provide accurate, timely and pragmatic legal advice to support the company’s business
  • Ensure awareness of any legal updates/regulatory changes and advise on any necessary change to internal company policies
  • Provide legal protection and risk management advice to management, especially on contract management
  • Review ongoing cases and advice management with all legal documentation and issues within the organization
  • Facilitate in managing legal exposure and mitigating legal risks in business operations of all Group companies

Qualifications & Experience

  • Have a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from the top 10 law schools in Indonesia. Having a Master’s Degree is major advantage
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in legal & compliance roles, either as an in-house legal or legal consultant and 5 years’ experience in a managerial position
  • Experience working in the mining related sector, particularly within Indonesia.
  • Possess utmost integrity and honesty, have a flair for legal work.
  • Clear and logical thinking and professionalism as a lawyer, of the caliber to be appointed a partner in a good firm.
  • Able to exercise creativity in taking on problems which have no precedent or clear options available.
  • Pro-active and interested in problem solving autonomously.
  • Professional work communication and reporting is conducted in the English language.
  • English proficiency is a MUST (verbal and written).
  • Positive attitude, flexible, proactive, self-motivated and detailed oriented with a strong sense of responsibility and able to work with minimum supervision
  • Understand the laws and regulations related to companies & employment.
  • Good teamwork & interpersonal skills.
  • Have an analytical and thorough mind, able to think strategically and handle complex concepts (problem-solving drive)
  • Positive attitude, integrity, efficient, teamwork, discipline and adaptable.

CLS was established in 2009, the company was dedicated to being the mining contractor of PT Arutmin Indonesia (AI) for Senakin, Satui and Mulia which strategically located near Arutmin’s port facility – North Pulau Laut Coal terminal (NPLCT) in the north shore of Pulau Laut.

Senakin mine produces bituminous coal. Senakin coal is crushed and, apart from a small portion, washed to lower the ash content and heighten marketability. Satui mine produces bituminous coal that requires crushing but does not require washing due to its low ash content. Mulia mine produce eco-coals mainly used as fuel for domestic and foreign steam-energy power stations.

The mines produce sub-bituminous coal with extremely low ash and sulphur contents and therefore are environmentally friendly.
