Opportunities are open for economic modellers and analysts to join our Economics and Policy (E&P) team as part of the Advisory Line of Service. Our E&P team undertakes a wide variety of economic and policy advisory assignments related to the sustainable development of the country and complex economic and policy questions faced by businesses. We would like to expand and diversify our E&P work, increase our focus on economic modelling, climate change, and raise the profile of PwC among our stakeholders.

Be part of a team which advises state-owned enterprises, government agencies, international development organisations, multinationals, and Indonesian companies in economics and policy analysis. Your main responsibility will be to manage, under supervision of higher management, day-to-day project delivery which requires significant knowledge of economic modelling and analysis. 

About the Role

We are looking for candidates with significant professional experience (M: 6 years minimum / SA: 3 years / A: 1 years), most likely gained working as an economist in the government economic Service, but potentially gained working with an economics consultancy or international organisation or in a research background. The candidates ideally have extensive experience and/or knowledge of various types of economic modelling (e.g. econometrics, data analytics, input-output, CGE, DSGE) and are able to leverage the skills for applied economic and policy analysis. The candidate should also be comfortable with econometrics, mathematics, and/or statistical literature to be able to learn and explore new modelling approaches.

This role is based in Jakarta, with the possibility of travel within Indonesia and overseas depending upon project requirements.

• Providing expert advice on a wide range of economics and policy projects.

• [For M] Coaching and mentoring junior staff and upskilling them to aid their progression.

• [For M and SA] Leading training sessions related to your areas of expertise.

• [For M and SA] Reviewing work undertaken by the broader team in line with PwC standards to ensure a high quality of delivery for clients.

• [For SA and A] Proactively assist the team in various aspects of the project

• [For SA and A] Prepare client deliverables

• [For SA and A] Do research to support analysis for any assignment

• [For SA and A] Assist and support Seniors and Managers contribute to the development of your own and team’s technical acumen

• [For SA and A] Keep up to date with local and national business and economic issues

• [For SA and A] Ensure you are adhering to compliance matters

• Work on developing internal relationships and your PwC brand

• Working in multi-disciplinary teams and clearly communicating an economics perspective on relevant topics.

 Requirements

• University degree majoring in economics / mathematics / statistics / data analytics, or related fields. If not from economics, significant knowledge of economics is required. Finance/accounting minor looked on favourably. [For M: Preferably Master]

• A Masters in Economics degree would be an advantage. We are very open to recent PhD graduates.

• Experience of one or more of the following software is preferable; Stata, Eviews, R, Matlab, Python

• Familiarity with programming, especially for econometrics, input-output, CGE, and/or DSGE is highly desirable.

• Fluency in both verbal and written Bahasa Indonesia and English is essential

• A minimum of (M: 6 / SA: 3 / A: 1) years of experience assessing the wider economic, environmental and/or social impacts of a policy and using those to inform robust cost benefit analysis following international best practice, combined with a good ability to apply these techniques in a wide variety of contexts.

• Experience delivering evaluations to measure policy impacts and lessons learned.

• Experience in delivering training to economists and/or non-economists would be desirable.

• [For M] Significant experience managing a small team with a range of priorities under tight timelines.

• Experience providing complex economic analysis to non-economists in a clear, accessible manner, including the ability to draw out and simplify key insights from data.
