Job Purpose/Overview

The Associate Engineer provides technical support/advanced troubleshooting and drives continuous product, and process improvement at Mars Wrigley factory locations especially related cocoa processing. The position is a member of the Q&FS which also part of Focused Improvement (FI), leads/executes improvement projects and mentors/trains others in problem solving methodologies. Furthermore this role manages R&D line trials by coordinating requests with the site value stream, QMP, Lab, Engineering, Commercial and Global S&T to ensure optimal execution and knowledge capture. In addition, this role also requires both the development and execution of experiments related to supply, processes and approaches in order to mitigate risks, improve quality and drive efficiency into the cocoa raw material network globally via standardization and by effectively integrating scientific discipline into the research.

Key Responsibilities

• Essential knowledge of cocoa supply chains, cocoa global standard practices, food safety and quality risks associated with cocoa raw materials.
• Ability to lead projects or components of projects through execution and management of procedures towards the generation of knowledge in the development of cocoa raw materials, recipes, processes and specifications that translates to full scale production and implementation.
• Design and execute factory trials to validate cocoa raw materials, chocolates, and process technologies following scientific rigor and Mars Wrigley Global Chocolate Governance.
• Execute quality management systems throughout the pipeline, beginning with origin raw materials through to the shelf life of finished products, In order to analyse trends, provide insights and identify root causes. 
• Essential understanding of key recipe, raw material and process specifications that deliver quality product at expected scale.
• Essential project management competency for meeting budget and timing expectations for project execution. 
• Write reports, communicate findings, and ensure proper knowledge management
• Lead in deployment of new product, processes, systems initiative. 
• Responsible for developing the design of experiments, managing the data and trend analysis derive insight data analysis and ensure all trial related documents and records are uploaded to define team site. 
• Responsible to ensure adherence to Mars Inc. safety rules or OHS standards that apply in Indonesia. Identify and implement measures to improve OHS, reduce risks in work area and meet KPI site. 

Education & Professional Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications: Must have a tertiary qualification (at least degree) in Industry Engineeringor in one of the following related discipline areas: Food Science technology/Agriculture/chemical industry, and/or relevant science major. 
• Preferred qualifications: Experience and Working knowledge of ISO9001 standard, GFSI, Advanced English Skills. 

Knowledge / Experience

• >3 years’ experience within a commercial/ FMCG (Cocoa/Chocolate, Dairy, or Pharmaceutical) Industry/engineer and mainly in quality management/factory.
• Two or more years of increasing responsibility in product / process research with successful project completions – preferred. 
• An established demonstrable network with cross-functional peers, communities of practice, trade / industry associations.
• Ability to operate pilot equipment and perform detailed/repetitive laboratory testing for extended periods of time.
• Design and communicate research through the understanding and application of mathematical and scientific principles. 
• Advanced technical expertise in food science, process engineering, Quality Management Systems, and GMP.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and maintain positive working relationships (HPC behavior).
• Ability to learn area specific software (PowerBI, Tableu, Minitab, Smartsheet)
• Flexible to changing priorities/timelines with ability to work independently and free from unplanned support.
• Excellent organizational skills to adjust to fluctuating workloads, urgent stakeholders’ requests while maintaining attention to detail. Strong communication/report writing skill.
